MIT or Caltech...

Ok. My name is Mea, and I am a freshman. It has always been my passion and wish to get into respected and well-known schools (i.e. MIT & CALTECH) and major in math or engineering. It's a bit too early to determine my chances of getting into either schools, but I want to keep myself updated with the statistics and make an effort to standout above my peers/competitors. So far in this school-year, I am enrolled in all intensified classes and taking one AP class(in the 9th grade our school district only allows students to be enrolled in one AP class), taking Precalc Intensified (probably the only student in my state), engineering, and I am also in Latin III.
I am co-writing and preparing to publish a math book with my brother, who is a mathematician and a University of Chicago graduate. I also won the STAR MERIT AWARD three times. I have pretty good grades mostly As. I play sports(I am into soccer a lot) and engaged in extracurricular activities. Oh I am fashion crazy and I took summer courses. I also have SAT tutoring sessions every week or so. On my very first SAT II math test I scored a 670 which is pretty high for my grade level. I am also involved in my community. So do you guys think if I continue on this pace, I have a pretty good chance of getting into MIT or Caltech?

If you are really passionate about engineering it will show automatically…be sure to ace the SATs as well…try to get involved in engineering projects and stuff like that.

Yeah you have a point. Maybe I can work on a bizarre engineering project that will easily be my free-pass to college.

haha wut. A graduate publishing a book with a high school freshman? and they happen to be siblings?

Yeah, think I am pretty smart(not trying to be arrogant) which is why my brother gave me the opportunity to contribute into the makings of his math book.

To be honest, nobody has a “free-pass” to MIT or Caltech. They’re the type of school that is a reach for anyone, no matter how outstanding you are.
