MIT Supplements - Will too many Hurt?

Hi guys,

Like a lot of you guys I'm finishing up my EA app to MIT.
I'm planning to submit some supplemental stuff:
- additional rec from swimming coach
- maker portfolio
-additional rec from internship mentor

I'm sure that the recs will say different things about me than teachers did, and I'm not sure how much the maker portfolio will help - it's coding, but not anything out of this world.

Do you guys think that this additional info is too much and I should cut one out?

If you are fine spending the extra money, I say go for it. I’m definitely no expert on admissions, I’m applying EA the same as you, but if the supplements show another side of you outside of academics then go for it.

Of course, it depends on what kind of coding. What language? Have you done any projects with it or just gotten proficient in it’s use?

The languages I use are primarily java and python. I’ve coded both small, fun applications and larger projects. For my maker portfolio, I’m submitting a larger project, and my mentor’s rec is going to talk about the project I did at the internship.

I might be mistaken here… are we only supposed to submit one project for the maker portfolio? Or can the photos cover a variety of projects?
