I'm considering transferring to MIT, and I see that the transfer application doesn't accept ACT scores. Does anyone know why that might be? I never took the SATs in high school...

According to the Required Documents page of the transfer section, you cannot use the ACT.

[Required Documents | MIT Admissions](Transfer deadlines & requirements | MIT Admissions)

Yes, I see that, but why might that be? It seems so arbitrary to me given that they accept the ACTs from freshmen applicants.

I believe the reasoning is that there are so few transfer admits, they want to see everybody’s performance on the same standardized test.

You can still take the SATs. :P

(Sucks.)

I got a 2250 on my SATs. 3.9 GPA. Trying to transfer in Fall of my Junior year. I have this Fellowship with a revolutionary new Journalism startup. I’ve tried plenty of things in school eg debate, this unpaid internship and the newspaper but nothing stuck. Oh, I also write for the blog of this pro-LGBT tax returns company. Anyway, I am looking at trying to get into the Political Science department. I think my essays are good. They’re raw and I speak what’s on my mind. If I get stellar recs, would I have a good chance at getting in?
