MIT transfer decisions

The admissions dept told me they were going to mail them out last friday. I haven't got anything yet, even though they only accept 8 people I still want to see the rejection letter myself.

Good luck with that. Hope your one of the lucky few. If I get back into BU, I'll see you right across the river!

wow st. isaac. i appluad your courage even applying to mit as a transfer. even with strong stats i still considered it a lost cause. hope you're one of the few.

It is a lost cause. I'm just being idealistic.

Same here. However if I had known that fewer than 10 students worldwide were admitted at the time, I wouldn't have applied.
The thing is, because they have a website and all for transfer applications, I thought they accepted as much transfers as others Colleges... But 8 per year, they should warn us directly on the FAQ for transfers (they only say its extremely competitive).

Yeah but then again, the letters M I T should also be a warning inherently.

No. The problem is not that they have a low acceptance rate for transfer, but that it is much lower than that of other Colleges which are equally selective.

why is MIT doing this to people? 8 only? this IS crazy

it is noto much lower, MIT only gets around 300 transfer applications for between 0 and 20 or so spots every year.

compare that with others
yale 700 apps 0-30 spots (30 this year)
stanford 1400 apps 0-80 spots (20 this year)
harvard 1200 apps formerly 75 spots (35-40 this year)

Its actually closer to 3 - 8 spots per year for 300 applicants. Anyway, I called the hotline today. Decisions were SENT out yesturday. Should know soon. Oh so soon.

alrite. i did not get any notification of my apps receipt. nor do i know what the heck is going on.. pour your stories ppl.

Yeah dunno. I'm in CT - still haven't gotten anything, supposedly went out on Monday. Maybe after the mail was picked up though. So maybe it left on tuesday.

isaac, I live right across from MIT in Boston... but still haven't received anything as of today..
just maybe.. the Monday mailing was for those who were accepted.
GL

well i got rejected today

i got rejected today, as well.

Rejected today in the mail, and happy about it. I hate difficult choices. If anybody does get accepted from CC I would love to see their stats, kind of curious what it takes to get into MIT as a transfer.

Hi,
I am a MIT transfer applicant from India, applied for entry in September 2007.
I haven't yet received my admission decision. I understand that international mailing takes time but it has been more than 2 weeks now, and I fear the mail being lost/delayed. I have already conveyed this to MIT admissions but I was considering going on a post search myself here in India, just to see if I can track the mail. If anybody could tell me through which courier agency(fedex. dhl etc.) or through which usps mail type, admission results were mailed, it will be much more easier for me to search for the mail.
Thanks
MIT Transfer hopeful

they'll usually e-mail decisions to internationals or tell you over the phone.
