I applied for freshmen admission into MIT as a high school student two years ago and was denied in the early action round. I am considering applying in the spring (I am a sophomore now) for transfer admission into MIT. I go to a state flagship school and have a 4.0 in the hardest classes I could have taken(I am in the school's computer science honors program, and take/have taken honors classes in computer science, physics, and chemistry), and have a pretty well rounded load of extra curriculars that show leadership on a small scale. (Organizing activities and such).

I was a pretty weak applicant in hs, even though I attended a nationally recognzied school. I had a B+ GPA and did pretty well on my standardized tests. (SAT: 600 Reading, 800 Math, 660 Writing. 780 Math II, 740 Physics, 710 Chemistry) My questions to the CC community are:

1) Should I bother to retake my SAT I or SAT IIs? Will scoring higher really improve my chances? Will I look desperate? Does MIT expect transfers to take the exam before applying for transfer admission? (Im not sure, I couldnt get a good answer to this on the site)

2) Can I realistically be admitted to MIT? Are most of the successful transfers students at comparably competitive institutions(as I would imagine)?
