MIT v Carnegie Mellon v Bucknell v Wm & Mary v Emory

D will be studying business and hopes to bring her degree back to the west coast. Which of these schools has the best undergrad business school that really prepares the student to enter the workplace, while providing a great college experience?

i’m pretty sure that you can’t go wrong with MIT. They have a great business program there, in addition to their engineering. The student life there is also supposed to be phenomenal.

Sloan is great.

All of them are very good schools…

MIT is def number one, but then between the others its debatable.

If she’s into tech stuff, then MIT or CMU would be great bets. I remember at CMU even a lot of the business students had a bit of nerd in them, and I imagine it’s pretty similar at MIT, but I don’t know if you’ll get the same atmosphere at the other schools.

Really, what’s most important is how well the school fits her and how much she’ll enjoy her college experience there. Going to MIT and hating every minute will probably leave you worse off than going to Penn State and having a great time getting involved around campus, meeting other students, and enjoying your classes.

You are talking about some very different schools as it pertains to “feel.” From my knowledge, they all have very strong programs. Plain and simple, from your list, your D must visit the schools to get a better personal picture. Bucknell and MIT are both terrific schools, but OH MY GOODNESS, they are very different places.
