MIT vs Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

I still haven't decided what to major in, but Aero/Astro are one of my top choices. I applied to MIT, and i've always wanted to go there, however, I recently got a letter from embry-riddle "inviting me" to apply. Since ERAU appears in US news ranking as the top university (with a masters degree as the highest degree at the university), and MIT appears as the best (with a phd as the highest degree) I was wondering which of the two is better in this area.

i would go with ERAU.

Go to whichever school makes you more comfortable. Visit both (if you can); find out where you feel more comfortable, and decide based on that.

Keep in mind that you may change your mind about Aero/Astro once you experience it properly (or you may not), so insure that you take into account the possibilities of lock-in.

My fiance investigated both and ended up deciding not to apply to ERAU because he felt it was more appropriate for people who wanted to become pilots or mechanics rather than aerospace engineers.

He was able to take advantage of a lot of opportunities in the MIT aerospace program that wouldn't be available at a school with a master's program only -- many of his courses were with the master's and PhD students, he was able to pick and choose a variety of paid research positions, and became very close with some of the top aerospace researchers in the world.
