<p>That is actually not true. The original data is from admitted students only but the actual preferences are computed from a statistical model similar to the one used to rank chess players.</p>
<p>wow, not sure why several people have responded to you so harshly. (Jealousy?) I agree that if you have the resources, you should visit MIT. It is a very different place than Berkeley, although you can get an excellent education at both. I do not think that contacts and job placement would be different between the two. As some have pointed out much more eloquently, it is the type of academic and social experience that would be different. I don’t agree that the MIT experience is necessarily better – just different. That’s why a visit is a good idea, so you can see for yourself.</p>
