I'm really stuck on this one. I'd really appreciate everyone's thoughts on this decision. I created this board to parallel this same question on the Yale forum. I'm thinking premed and I'm just not sure which would be the best. I think the research at MIT and the energy on campus would really be fun. However, I have concerns about Humanities at MIT. (I'm aware of the HASS requirement, but still compared to Yale it seems weak.) At the same time I have concerns about the sciences at Yale, I fear everyone there is pre-med and only really interested in the fufilling premed requirements.

Any input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

The humanities at MIT when compared to Yale isn't great, but you can take those classes at Harvard if you wanted to.

Also, Cambridge/Boston is so wonderful...and MIT is right by the Charles River so that's a definite plus! And, I really like the UROP thing MIT has. MIT is tops when it comes to research!

As far as the fin aid thing, just make some noise over at Yale. They sweat their yield rate, so an indication that you won't be considering yale unless they respond might get you pretty far. If the financial aid office itself is swamped, try your regional admissions officer.

Also, honestly, I'm really leaning towards yale. It just offers so much.

what, like new haven?
the difference between the schools is larger than that, of course, but i wouldn't forget that you're not always studying. but then, premeds probably don't really subscribe to that, i hear.
