Mit Wtp 2008

Do you think we should send in updates?

I only sent in an update because I got DRAMATICALLY better ACT scores from the February test date. They don't ask for them, and so unless you have something that will help your app a lot, I'd say don't bother.

i dont have any updates.

i did get some science olympiad awards...and AIME scores....but thats it...plus it's not like they ask for awards in the first place anyways.

a while back one of you wrote something about AP Comp Sci and "it won't matter if none of them find out."

regardless of WTP, college admission counselors do know about CollegeConfidential and have accounts and look around. even if you dont post your name, when you have your exact scores and all your activities and even geographic information, it's really NOT THAT HARD to figure out who you are. if i were the counselor of a small engineering school i would definitely be checking here to find out who really wants to go to my school, and who is just applying as backup but really loves MIT or something.

so since its highly likely that you are all very smart intelligent women with bright futures,

take my advice and be careful what you post. dont post your exact scores, your state, your essays, because you don't want to wonder if the reason you didnt get into Middlebury is because you raved all over CollegeConfidential how much you love Yale, and included that you got a 2310 and a 740 in Literature and a 790 in Bio-E and you're from Maryland and you founded the International Club and you went to Germany after sophomore year nad you wrote your essays on your love of cooking Morrocan food. They can figure out who you are. i realized this later and wished that I could delete some of my posts.

Also consider your myspace/facebook profile pictures. Even if your page is private, you're still searchable.

If you really want feedback from people regarding your stats or whatever, then modify them. Be Kat from California instead of Maya from Maryland, k? Say you got a 690/760/730 instead of 710/750/740? Be careful listing all the colleges you applied to.

it's too bad that you can't have an honest, anonymous forum, but since you don't, at least act wisely.

how do you send in updates?

maybe i should send in my SAT score, since it's a lot better than my PSAT.
and i could send in my AIME score too.
would that help? is it too late to send an update?

^yah, my AIME scores could probably be sent in.
Anyone want to tell me how to do tht?

u will be very fine for the program XD

lol, if you're talking to me, thank you :P

Email them at wtp (at) mit (dot) edu, and put your name and "Admissions Update" in the subject.

First ask them if they want the scores, because you will have to send them a copy of your official score report (like in your application) in order for them to consider it.

It might be kind of late, due to the fact that decisions are only two weeks (!!!) away.

but yeah, Narcissa, I think you're really qualified already, so it would probably not matter. I would think it actually might put you into the overqualified bin.

lol okay i wont send it =P besides, i dont' have an "official" aime score. that comes out in like 2 months -_- haha =P thnx tho

11 days!

(more like 13-ish for me, since I'm on the West Coast)

but still!

ahh i know
i cant wait, im so nervous

The WTP 2008 Facebook groups are already up...gaaaah...the only people in them are tutors/instructors right now. I want to be able to submit my request to join!

I shouldn't build it up so much...that's easier said than done.

lol but u'll have to wait a few days for the mail to come no? so thats like...almost 15 days?

ahhh good luck girls! I know waiting sucks...last year all the WTP applicants on CC received their decisions before me. I was even worried that somehow my application had been lost! Good luck to everyone. To those who make it, WTP will be a very unique opportunity that you should take advantage of. To those who don't, don't despair at all! It's not a "make it or break it" kind of thing, and there's LOADS of other equally cool stuff to fill your summer with!

....And haha the waiting will never get easier- just wait until college decisions! That waiting killed me...but I'm finally done! :)

Yeah, and I've seen that you OWNED admissions! Congratulations!

Do you have any idea where you want to go at this point, or are you just basking in the warm glow of success for a few days?

oh wow you got into so many amazing schools! congrats!
i hope you go to MIT =P

ahh this whole thing makes me so nervous
today my mom played the worst joke on me
she called me at school and asked if i wanted her to tell me if she got the WTP letter, and she sounded kind of disappointed so i really thought i got rejected
but then i realized what day it is =)

haha! My sister came into my room this morning and was like "That MIT summer thing called, and you got in!"

I flipped out for about a second, and then I too felt a little ashamed.

lol we don't play april fools jokes around here

haha its so sad :P
