Mite2s

Who here has applied to MITE2S, and what were your stats

I applied.

My son applied, too. Did either of you apply to other programs, and have you previously done any summer programs before?

I applied to MITE2S. We've had a person go to MITE2S the past 2 years from my school, so that might help my bad stats.

Does anyone know whether MITE2S interviews students before accepting them?

MITE2S does not do interviews before accepting students.

Alright, MITE2S notifications should have come already, lets try to revitalize this forum. I found out on Saturday that I got in. I know there are some people on cc that have applied so lets try to talk before the program starts.

S applied and was rejected. SAT: 1440 (720, 720), good essay supporting his interest in science; taking the toughest curriculum in our county; As, in the toughest math course, demonstrated strong interest in science including doing very well in a competitive science summer program, countywide leadership position, no scientists in our family, low performing mainly minority high school, but he had only a 2.9 unweighted, which is what I think hurt him.

Does anyone know how long the waiting list for MITE2S? I'm just asking for the prospects of my friend.

Go Vu! Only guy on CC to get into Mite2s so far!

My name is Charles and I'm from Indiana. I got my acceptance letter on Monday the 11th. I'm pretty excited. I wouldn't mind getting in touch with other people who've been accepted or who want to know about the application for future years. I may post stuff about the program after I go too if that helps anybody.

go charles! hehe

this is really random- but because you mentioned your name I am picturing you as Prince Charles

I'm still waiting to get clearance from my school to get for 3 weeks since we don't end the school year until July 14th. I'll hopefully know by Monday afternoon.

my stats are 1520 sat (800-V,720-M), 215 psat, 3.96 gpa, 12/368 rank, academic teams. i guess i write decently . I can send people my application essays if they want to read them, but in all honesty they weren't all that hot. i can't think of anything else...I'm black. I'm not really poor or first-generation college student, so I kind of find it hard to assert that I'm from an underprivileged background. I really don't have more insight into the application process than anybody else so I can't help anybody there. I didn't do anything special. I just followed the directions and sent it in before the deadline. Feel free to ask any questions , but I'm not sure if I can answer any of them.

I heard horror stories from Mites have you guys applied to quest scholars?

Don't worry Saila, I'm asian, which doesn't completely fall under the MITE2S charter. However, I do fall under the first-generation and underprivilaged part you can say. My school is actually synonymys for the first-generation and underprivilaged student, so that probably gave me some extra points. My stats aren't impressive at all... SAT: 1320 (690 M, 630), although my PSAT Math was 76, Class rank 4/~100 (4.22 weighted, 3.96 unweighted GPA). I have won a couple of science fairs and have been to the country one five years in a row and to state once. I also have a lot of commitments to different robotics affairs and engineering courses.

"and have been to the country one five years in a row "- sorry its supposed to read "county"

How come MITE2S isn't a popular CC thread? Come on, I know there's around 75 people out there!!!

Yeah, not many people are commenting. Hey VU, I read your school hasn't approved you being gone for 3 weeks yet. Bummer.... At least you have that other internship to fall back on though right?

Latindude, the counselor that helped me get the internship just happens to be the counselor that doesn't want to clear me for MITE2S. It's a sticky situation because by me asking her to goto MITE2S, she almost took it as a rejection of the internship at the same time.
