CPU,
I know right? The waitlisted will probably just find out in mid-May or so, and then it would be too late to apply to anything else. My backup summer is materializing/finalizing now, so if I get waitlisted, I don’t know if I can/will want to wait around.

I had to decide on my Governor’s School, so I got my decision early. I was rejected and they said the decisions will come later this week. Good Luck guys! :)

wow, that’s crazy that results are just out like that… I’m so sorry soydecali; I know how rejection feels. I’ve already been rejected from two programs this year.

Obviously you know that the rejection says nothing about the type of student that you are and blah blah blah. Most of us have nearly the same stats so it comes down to the subjective things like the essay and whatnot.

entrevox11–FUNNIEST THING EVER!! well actually i only read the first chapter but i think i just fell in love with whoever wrote this. thank you for enlightening meeee. also-are butterflies really a type of owl?

soydecali–i’m sorry you didn’t get into MITES, but at least your wait is over! and congrats on governor’s school!!

I was first unsure what you got rejected too, but now i feel bad :(. I really hope they come tomorrow. I also find it impossible for butterflies to be a type of owl when one species is a herbivore insect and another a carnivorous bird.

Thanks guys, when I heard the 5% acceptance rate and 1400 applicants, I sorta accepted it right off the bat. So it was no BIG surprise. It’s really not all about the stats because stats only say you can handle it. ~mid 200s PSAT, 4.0, val, multiple science awards, <$50,000. They probably wondered how much the program could help me compared to another applicant. Don’t be discouraged whatever happens in the next few days, you’re all awesome!

Hey soydecali
When did you send out your email asking them? I sent out one awhile back (i needed an early decision because of a research project I have in the summer) and they never responded (they actually did not respond to any of my emails as I had sent one out in like January about the application status stuff). How do they decide who to respond to as well?

hey guys, my son applied to MITES and we too are waiting, just like all of you. I’m pretty sure that people are going to get their letters this week because the website says —“selection notification-Monday April 19” The logical thing for them to do would be to specify a date that they feel will be AFTER everyone should have already been notified. Otherwise they will be bombarded with emails, phone calls, etc. I would also expect that they would allow for slight mishaps and delays with the mail, so that being said, I’m seriously expecting something either tomorrow or Thursday:) Isn’t it sad how they have us overanalyzing every little clue? Good luck to all of you, I hope you all get in!

Is it hard for asian males to get in?
I wasn’t planning on getting in to MITES. I wanted to go to SSP, but I got rejected so for now my only hopes are either getting into MITES, SpaceSHIP, or HSSEAS. :(
