Wow, really? My school did NHS at the beginning of this year, i.e. junior year.

@ entrevox11 hahaha thanks! and oh! i’m a F! lol

I’m so nervous and anxious and worried and scared and ahh I can’t concentrate on my school works right now haha
anyone feel the same way?

Yes! I can’t concentrate on anything at all. If this decision doesnt come through soon, I may end up failing all my classes. Its funny how we predicted they would come by the 8th, then the 9th, then the 11th or 12th, and nothing came. I got all my hopes up just have them crushed lol.

lol AP exams, finals, projects… coming up so soon!
and lol I hope that decisions will reach us this week. but I guess that also depends on where you live. this is my #1 choice summer program (probably the same for bunches of ppl in this thread) so I am extremely hopeful! I hope everyone here gets accepted!! ^.^

I’ll be joining too! I’ve been following this dread for the past few weeks =) Anyways, NHS at my school is sort of a joke. All I have to do is do 10 hours of community service hours per year and have a GPA of over 3.5

I’m on Spring Break now and all my summer programs are sending out their decisions in the next week so I’m literally checking my email every hour =( and killing time with FFIII =D

add me to the list

throwninlie-M, TX

I think it’s unfair that people can just add their names to our list without participating in our months of rambling conversation lol JK

I was actually just lucky to hear about MITES. I was in formed of MITES by a postcard from MIT in December.

NHS at my school is kind of a joke, although I am running for Vice President. Most of the time, our meetings consist of the president telling us to go volunteer, and we make posters. Oh well I guess, better to be in it than not.

@CPUscientist3000
There is a committee of people that make the decision as to who is accepted into the program and who isn’t. These people have to read all your applications so Sandy was mailing them to the committee.

So they read all the apps and decide on who gets in between Saturday and then end of the week? Thats a lot of apps to do in such a short time period

Hey everyone, I don’t why I didn’t think about looking for a MITES forum earlier, but, for whatever reason, I did this morning and I’m glad!
I’m from Texas, I applied to the 2011 MITES Program, and I’ve been dying to get a letter from the program!
I starting reading a few pages to get caught up on what ya’ll have been talking about, so sign me up!

asuareao503-M, Texas

I see there’s a few more from Texas on the list. What general areas do you guys live in, cause Texas is a big place…

I hope I can see some of you this summer!

@asuareao503-
I’m on here for my son. We are in clear lake which is part of Houston. How about you?

@sarac25
I’m down further south in Corpus Christi. We’re not to far away! (Relative to other major cities in Texas)

I wish your son and you the best of luck getting in to MITES!

It has been refreshing to read all of your posts over the past 5 months. The MITES program will truly be blessed to have bright and promising juniors like you all. Nevertheless, if you dont get in, understand that you still have bright and promising futures, whether at MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, Smith, USC or Texas-Austin. There are no losers on this site.
Unfortunately, there just is not enough space for MITES to take all of you. After all, they have allotted space for bright and promising students who have only taken Physics I Honors and Precalculus Honors and for those who have taken AP Calculus and AP Physics. There are bright and promising students on both tracks. If you are selected, it does not necessarily mean that you are the brightest of the applicants on your track; instead, it means that your need for the MITES program was one of the most compelling in a pool of very bright students. Remember this as decisions are sent out. In fact, some of you who will be rejected by MITES will still end up at MIT, Harvard or Caltech. Many of you are just that great! So stay encouraged!

@dascholar: thanks for the encouragement! I, for one, needed some of it! :D

Anyway, here’s the updated list…people who updated the list missed two people -.-
