where is the blasted link!!! It’s not in my spam or anywhere reasonable!!!
ARGH FUSTRATION

@pokm12

I don’t think you receive a link. I think only those you indicated on the application do. However, after your teachers submit the recommendations, either online or through mail, they will email you saying they received your completed application.

cw484912 said that he got the link and that he had to forward it to his teachers… Regardless, none of my teachers got a link. And my recommendations have been sent off without the stupid FREAKING SHEET that’s supposed to be included. And now, I am screwed.

Pokm12
The guideline sheet has to be included???

I sent an email to the MITES people about the recommendation letter form…still waiting on their response. I think you don’t have to send in the sheet along with everything else because what about the people who upload their letters (like my teachers
)?

is it okay if the teachers just send out their letters individually?
or should i collect them and put it one big envelope?

my teachers have not received an email…not for my application or my friends who also applied.

I sent my application on the first deadline because I didn’t hear about the second, and my teachers still haven’t received emails. Rage. Also, what is the link to where you could originally sign in to fill out the application, but is now used to see application status? I can’t find it on the website, and I lost the link. Thanks.

"The application for the 2011 MITES Program is now closed. If you had technical difficulty completing the application before the due date, please contact mites@mit.edu. "

we can’t sign in anymore…
I am unsure whether this is a bug or not, because until today, I was able to sign-in to check the status of my teacher’s letter of recommendations etc. My counselor is sending out my transcript tomorrow, but I am scared it is too late… MITES initially stated that the letters of recommendation/transcript/etc are due February 18th… >.< I hope this is all just a bug… I hope everyone can still send in their teacher’s things…

http://engineering-apps.mit.edu:8080/mites/apply

i can sign in…

oh.
haha cool, thanks mystic1knight
There was no link directly from the main site…
haha

Yes- the recommendation sheet has to be included. I think that is the only reason that my counselor recs have not been received. She sent them in last week.

I emailed MITES a while back and they said although it is acceptable to send letters individually, one application packet is much better.

Why does the sheet have to be included? What’s so special about it?

Also, I got my Calc teacher to write me a rec, but looking at my physics teachers letter, the physics one was WAY better!!! just what i was looking for. My stats teacher is also going to write one, can i call MITES and ask them to switch my math teachers???

CPUscientist3000,
Generally, you’re not supposed to see your recommendation. Asking to switch your math teachers would seem as if you know what each are writing, which would be assumed to be influencing your teachers. You could go the route and just say that one knows you better than the other. However, since it has already been submitted, I would avoid doing so.

soydecali that’s what i’m going to tell MITES. my stats teacher knows me better (she really does). it’s hard because i have two maths & had to pick too early :(

^ lol, wasn’t there a specific agreement that you weren’t supposed to read the rec letters…Just sayin’

The sheet is supposed to be included so that they can identify you easily… :(

^ >.<‘’ identification?
i just realized that my teachers might have written my nickname onto the rec letter rather than the full name I registered with D: I hope it won’t cause any problems

wait…if the recommendation sheet needs to be included, then what do our teachers do if they are uploading our rec letters? O__O

If the the rec sheets are for identification, then I’m sure it automatically attaches the rec to your name on the link. I had no clue that we needed to send the rec sheet, I hope that doesn’t make them mad :O

Yeah, I’m sure if you do it online, you have nothing to worry about with the rec sheet.
