MITES 2011 Information & Discussion

aw skeppy! it’s okay we can still be bffs! and you’ll still have a bomb summer cause you’re just that cool (;

sarac25- it’s a small, regular sized envelope, which made me really upset at first. I had to push myself to keep reading, and I’m glad I did! :)

Good luck to your son! And for all those still waiting!

OHHHHMMMMMGGGGG!! i made it!!! O:
i had just gotten back from “building a better habitat” and built a house for 7 hours and i got home and what the flip! rofl…

but i’m really sorry if you guys didn’t make it /: and for those of you guys who haven’t recieved the letter, keep your hopes up  i love you all and goodluck.

Congrats Padillak12.
Hope to see you there.

i don’t think i’m gonna survive long enough to even get my letter.

Padillak- congrats!!!

If any of you guys get into E2@MIT, let me know so we can make a separate thread!! Keep reading your letters, guys!! Even after it says how you aren’t accepted.

I can’t wait to hopefully meet some of you!! One week isn’t enough time to be with all of you amazing people!

Congrats padillak! Which state are you from?

aww padillak12 congratz :)

To the people asking me before, I’m in the North East, not California. No worries, it will reach you!

Those who were accepted, can you please post your stats?

McLeod- guess you don’t want my stats haha

i’m from oklahoma (:
female, mexican, cross country, several clubs
4.0 unweighted gpa
1/581
4.3 weighted
and my test scores were really not nearly as close to all of you intelligent people.
i guess i just wrote some pretty darn good essays lol
so if you’re worried about not making it because your scores are too low, don’t stress because mine were probably among the lowest. i’m too embarrassed to post them /: and i think it’s good if you got low scores, i think thats what got me a spot too, because maybe it showed that i needed MITES.

i don’t mean it that way D:

are they lower than a 21 on the ACT taken the summer of my soph year, and 1500 on SAT taken this year? my weighted GPA was a 3.829 unweighted as a 3.684. The most disturbing thing to me is that i don’t remember if i used my PLAN grade of a 23 instead which when factored is lower than my ACT score.

Howdy Y’all  I’ve discovered this “little” thread and I applied for MITES too :stuck_out_tongue: I doubt I’ll get in but if I do it wont be for my test scores hahaha >.< I’m a figure skater though does that help? Lol :P

I got in!!

I was actually not home but counting down the hours until my the post was supposed to come in. Then half an hour earlier than expected my dad randomly popped in and found me and gave me the letter and I was in! It was fantastic. I’m in the Northeast, a couple hours from Boston.

Congrats Padillak! I’m pulling for EVERYONE here because you guys are totally awesome.

CPU, when is the E2@MIT program? Would it coincide with MITES time?

Stats:
I posted them before, so this is a summary.
235 PSAT, 99 point something GPA (Out of 100), 4 APs, top 5% in class (no ranking at my school), my essays weren’t all about science and math (talked about art, exchange trip experience, etc.)and idk what else you want. But Ahh!! I’m so excited!

EVERYONE REMEMBER TO READ THE ENTIRE REJECTION LETTER! YOU MIGHT STILL HAVE GOOD NEWS :)

McLeod it’s okay :)

I agree about having lower test scores/lower grades will help you.

Here are my stats for getting into E2@MIT:

GPW UW- 3.97/4.0 straight As since frosh
don’t know weighted. But top 2% of class
Rank-6/272.
Female, African American, a LOT of volunteer hours and awards, varsity track for two years, a job.

My essays were awesome  I think that helped them see my passion for engineering.

EDIT: E2@MIT is from July 31- august 7, so no:( I won’t be able to meet you guys who were accepted :frowning:

SAT- 1940 CR+M= 1290, M = 620 (ouch)

But still, mine were lower than average at the moment. I hope the reason you couldnt combine scores and required the test date because they consider the date of the test taken

where are you from IndoAzn boy (are you south asian, cuz so am I)

Congrats CPU I hope that if I don’t get in I’ll be in E2 I wish it was Easter sunday so I could get on Facebook and join the page. But it’s crazy how in a short amount of time we have all bounded. Everyone keep your hopes up because I still am
