MITES 2011 Information & Discussion

Yesterday there was so much mail, i open it and there was a 9x12 in there; i grab it out and its addressed to my father. There are multiple items of regular envelops and my hope dwindles till i saw that none were from MITES. A few other people in Florida have received their letter, but I have not. If i don’t get anything today I may call, my only hope is that even though i havent gotten it yet doesnt mean im rejected.

ATTN: Engineers,…(ME, EE, AE, and Environmental)
BTW the Ocean Engineering Experience is still open at MIT. There aren’t any teacher recommendations necessary and there is financial aid available for the program and travel.

BTW has anyone updated our list lately?

Here’s the application link to the MIT Ocean Engineering Experience: http://seagrant.mit.edu/Documents/Public_Public/OEX_application_2011_Final-05.pdf

The deadline for applying is April 30.

for those that have called to know their status, did u call the mites number on the website?

needhelp94: As far as I know, everyone here got a letter. Decisions are not being given over the phone. I heard if you have a competing deadline you can email your case and they will send your letter.

I called today and they told me they will send me an email. I don’t think they are willing to give decisions over the phone. I didn’t get an email yet but hopefully I’ll find out by the end of today. The possibility that I could have gotten in is distracting me from filling out applications to other programs.

can you please post when you receive the email. I emailed them as well and want to know when to expect to hear back.

You guys… DONT CALL/EMAIL.

it makes you look bad. Just wait. It’s coming. I know you’re nervous

@problematical- what # did you call? If you don’ t mind me asking, what are some programs you know of that are still accepting applications?

Sara- Seidenburg scholars at Pace

And something at TCNJ.

good luck everyone :)

Still nothing! I don’t think I got in, though, because someone from my school already got in.
However, another kid from my school got a rejection letter… what’s up? Have we been waitlisted or something? I live fairly close to MA…

I heard all letters were sent out together.

Just wait a few more days, I know it’s hard but you’ve waited long enough that I believe you guys can do it.

@CPU-thank you!
The letter finally cam
( Houston), my son didn’t get accepted:( at least the wait is over.FYI, for those of you who haven’t got letters yet, it was postmarked 4/15(fri). Good luck everyone, you’re all so smart and are going places, with or without MIT:)

@ Sarac25-- I don’t know your financial situation but there are iD Camps at MIT that are still open. I plan to study abroad if I don’t get in my other two programs that I applied for. Another option may be to check your local colleges for similar programs.

Hey guys I just read the first 3 pages of this thread, (looking for the convo when I first logged on) still good info! :-)

First few are from students who went to Mites 2010! They shared their experience, …cool!

Still nothing. From what sarac25 ill HOPEFULLY get it tomorrow.

The acceptances were apparently postmarked April 13th.

how do u know?

@kingkhari- thank you, I’ll check it out! The letter I got was dated 4/13( top of letter) but postmarked 4/15.
