Hi guys,…I think that there was a misunderstanding,…
At CPU I think that when MITHopeful16 said that they weren’t in full understanding what E2 was and that you still get to go to MIT because they really wanted you there, but didn’t have enough space so they created another program for this summer,…probably thought that you didn’t get in AT ALL,…hence the “sorry you didn’t get in”… :-)

At MITHopeful16, I think that CPU was excited that she still got an opportunity to still go to MIT that when you said sorry, she took it as an insult? :-(

Anyways, both Mitrs and E2’s get to go to MIT this summer! Both are intelligent and worthy to qualify
Enjoy your summer, and keep it light.
Hope that helps ?!?!! :-/

Edit: fair to ask ? About what E2 is,… Unless you got the letter you probably never heard of it and thought it was like WTP or another program not associated with Mites,… Like SSP

Lmao. I’m not bitter, just telling you straight up. You’re the one swearing. It’s cute.

@KingKhari I clearly explained what it was on another thread, and if it wasn’t, he could have asked. I’m not the only one who knows that MITHopeful acts condescending and full of himself. And I wasn’t insulted by him saying “sorry you didn’t get in.”

Anyways. A smile has been on my face since the app opened in December, and I’ll continue to smile no matter what can’t wait to meet the fellow E2ers!

It’s interesting that you guys created another facebook group to counter the official one. Your first move as admitted students is to create a counter group? Seems a bit antagonistic.

I guess they’re waiting until the entire class is accepted so they can add everyone at once.

I’ll wait for the official one. Seems like starting off on the right foot is important.

Lol, I don’t think that the MITES staff will see our page and think any less of all of us. If anything, it shows that we all are really excited about the program and want to “meet” each other. And besides, we can always still join the official facebook group when they start accepting people haha.

I"m jealous of everyone on this board that can already make their summer plans. I have to wait till May 1st to find out my fate with MITE =(( I have so many summer plans that are hanging right now

1) The group has the same name as the official one. This creates ambiguity between the two groups. An unofficial group is one thing, but trying to co-opt the one they created seems short sighted.

But why would this ambiguity be a problem? That leads to,

2) At the point where they invite all the admitted students to join the official group, usually done with the group name when in printed material, they don’t know which group to join. In fact, the new group comes up first in search results and currently has more people. Who could blame them?

3) Since the group is open it doesn’t really provide any benefit that the other group didn’t. Anybody could join this group and say they were related to MITES 2011. If you just want to meet random people who care about MITES, why not just join the group that already exists?

I agree that it’s not serious, but I still think giving them extra work or extra problems to solve is a significant enough harm. Even if they just have to have a meeting about how to get people to their group instead, it seems a bit less than optimal.

I understand MPiccol’s point. Everyone should be mindful that MITES is an organization, one with prestige,…everyone being able to join the group at random takes away it’s shine. I’m not going, but I vote to disband the FB with the Official Mites 2011. Patience is a must,…you’re already going to meet and have chatted on here, (so we practically know each other). I dint know but like my mother tells me; consider what you do…for every action there’s a reaction…
Just saying…

Edit: there’s the MIT MITES who applied 2011, informal and unofficial. That could be an option. For those that just joined this thread it’s page 113, or 114 posted by whateverhappens just an FYI

Maybe someone who was accepted,(out of consideration), email the mites@ their email address and ask them if it is going to pose a problem. Nothing lost…
We were all anxious and emailing and asking questions about our status; why not email them and ask them if it’s okay, or will it cause the coordinators trouble.
That’s ALL. For real

im super excited to go to mites this summer and i cant stop think about it, but i was wondering if anyone knew if we were going to get any more mail/emails/information for those who will be going
