MITES 2011 Information & Discussion

@mystic1knight, does that mean that our MITES applications may double as an SSP application?

I received an email back saying that I can copy and mail it in, although it was a bit vague as to whether or not it should be sent from the school. If I copy the original score report though, shouldn’t that be fine?

batfan^ yeah

PS just mailed mine a few hours ago (: grr APRIL HURRY

are you an american citizen? you aren’t supposed to apply if you aren’t or don’t have residency in the US :s and its directed more towards underrepresented minorities, but East Asians were present at the program.

oh goodness where to start! basically, you’re going to struggle (“hit the wall”), but it’s ok, because there is a huge support system around you of your classmates, ta’s, instructors, and those that work in the office of the program. there are tons of opportunites for fun around boston, and you have a ton more freedom than i thought would be available. pretty much anywhere in cambridge and the nicer parts of boston only require a group of peers in the day time, and you can just take a cool ta with you at night. The work is hard, but it is worth it. There will be at least one night where you get no sleep. You just kind of have to get over that now haha. Of course, there will be those times where your lack of sleep because you’ve been playing in the athena cluster when you should be doing biochemistry or talking with friends until 3:30 on friday night when you could have started a p-set like some of your wiser fellow MITES students, leaving you a bit screwed come sunday night.

but don’t let that deter you! everyone from my year got a positive experience from the program (: (and even though this isn’t the focus the college acceptances that you and your fellow MITES students get into are really nice! think of it as icing on the cake. (: )

Jbrown93 what were your stats, if you don’t mind.

Wait… So my SATs are coming online tonight… How should I send them in?

Ugh… I’m hating this “official” shiz. I guess next time paper reports are the way to go?
Anyway, I’ve tried calling them… they don’t pick up and they don’t call back. They only respond to emails, and they keep insisting that they want the “official” reports.
:(

@jbrown - I have dual =)

@jbrown - whats athena cluster? lol

@jbrown
How many caucasians were present at MITES?

I reaaaalllllyyyyy want to get in!!! I’ve been checking the this thread and the MITES application status website everyday…ever since I submitted the MITES online app. D:

I hope we all get in (:
My stuff was mailed yesterday, I’ll check the website later today to see if they’ve received them

nice! and its basically a computer lab, but the computers run on MIT’s Project Athena OS.

haha where’s the OP?

@somethingbetter: Yeah, I need to send in my SAT scores too…does anybody know how to?

I posted how to do in earlier

Whoops typo, ignore “in”.
And anyway, that’s the way I did it.

So…when I signed up I didn’t request a paper report nor did I use any of the four free score reports. Do I just pay to send a score report, and have College Board send it now? Would that be considered “official?” :D

Yes^ and hurry. It will take a couple weeks to get there, so you have to expedite for 2 day delivery ($40)
