MITES 2011 Information & Discussion

Batfan- all of my things were mailed a few days ago and it still says INCOMPLETE. I sent my scores in Jan and when I checked a few days ago it said RECEIVED. Although I don’t know when they updated it. Try to stay positive everyone, this happens every year

CPUscientist3000 - I wish I’d done delivery confirmation now, like my parents suggested…at least then I can prove that it had been received.

my online thing didn’t even work for any of my teachers…
UGH. i’m getting paranoid about the whole receiving in time thing too…

Batfan- I wish I’d done it too.

Somethingbetter- it’s alright. It says postmarked, they know it takes a while, especially for kids across the country.

soooo when’s mid-april? lol i’m probably the most impatient person everrrrr.

I think I have you beat on the impatient part lol

how about tied? let’s not have any bad relations so that we can (hopefully) be bffs this summer!(: (:

hahaha that is true!
this is probably the most amazing program… with this on your college app, any school would be crazy to deny someone!

i think stanford has something against my high school…they haven’t accepted anyone in like thirteen years or some ridiculous time! and we currently have multiple people at yale, harvard, and other schools like that. so my goal is to break the streak and at least get accepted there. i need mites!

when i told a “Friend” i was applying to yale, he laughed and said no one ever got in from our school. i know that’s a lie, because in my guidance office there’s a College Flag for every college a student has ever attended. and our star basketball player who graduated last year got accepted to yale after an agreement to attend a prep school for two years (his acceptance is questionable though…is it because of basketball?? he’s not dumb but he’s not the smartest either.)

i need MITES too. i have a final list of ten schools, might go down to 9.

i feel like i won’t be accepted cause of where i live…just because my city is rich and we send like 97% to college doesn’t mean i have 5,000 bucks laying around to go to a different summer program, ya know? gr.
ps yale is my top choice by farrrrrr but i’d need SO MUCH financial aid.

i don’t think i have a top choice o.O. it sounds crazy but mit isn’t one. i like the school A LOT. but when i visited, the students seemed too serious -_- whereas at yale, the students were equally intelligent but ALL SMILES :D

my ten are MIT, Yale, NEU, RPI (iffy), UMass, Barnard, CMU, Rutgers, lehigh, and BU.
i visted mit, yale, and rpi. i’m going to visit lehigh &cmu in april. and if i get a chance during the summer (hopefully after mites (: i’ll go to ma to visit neu, bu, and umass). then there would be only barnard left. what are you looking at??

yale, mit, harvard (all reaches but yale and harvard have good FA), stanford and princeton (maybe?), u of chicago, u of minnesota (three people in my family went there), u of michigan, and then osu is basically my backup. but this list really isn’t well thought out or in any order, i’m kinda just starting to delve deep into searching for schools. i’ve visited osu, harvard, and yale, and i totally agree with how happy the bulldogs were. hopefully i’ll be visiting chicago and michigan this spring/summer.

my mom won’t let me go far, so i had to cross off uiuc and purdue =/ it sucks when your parent doesnt want you to go far, but you live in new england so there are only ivies/top schools, and then reg state schools. there’s no inbetween. the schools on my list are either top schools or “easier to get into schools” (umass, rutgers). grrrr

it’s okay, you’ll get a good education no matter where you go…as long as you try lol

lol. butttttt i wish i had more options ya know. but i see where she’s coming from, i don’t wanna be three thousand miles away. but i dont want to go to uconn either lol.

yeah i definitely wanna go out of state

only in state is yale, im literally 10 mins away (:

for us, yale doesnt have the glam like everyone else sees it, it’s just good ol’ yale(:
i see MIT like it’s a godsend lol but i think if i lived close that wouldnt be the case

You guys seem to want MITES for the wrong reasons–only to make your application look good for college. Of course it helps, but it seems like you guys are already on your way to the ivies like Yale and Harvard. Is MITES a need, or just a want? Plus, I read some pages of this thread and don’t see too many underrepresented minorities or anybody who actually fits the MITES target. It amazes me how a thread for a minority program is devoid of many minority applicants.
