CPU–i mean i’ll see you in june cause that’s when mites starts (: but no i won’t leave you guys here without my occasional posts that are sarcastic/witty(?)/funny because then this forum would be super boring :P

Hahahahahaha yeah

If something is missing from your application, are you automatically disqualified or do they contact you?

I think DQ
it would be too late to send something, ESP if it’s so late. I hope they get everything

how do you guys think they make the initial cut? based on SAT scores? based on ethnicity? my stats aren’t exceptional, but my recs and essays are good, so im just afraid of being cut without being considered…

The other things dont matter as much as the essays. They want to develop us so they don’t want someone with a 2400 (although its possible).

Other people said it’s the essays that weigh the most, even in college apps

^ same…

i couldn’t resist CC.

i’m afraid of being cut because all of stuff didn’t get in on time… :(

<a href=“MIT Institutional Research”>MIT Institutional Research;
A CC mom sent me this. Cheer up everyone.

Doesn’t MIT ignore the writing score section and only take into account of the Reading and Math sections?

I think they put a lot of weight on ethnicity/income together. I would think that your chances gradually increase as an underrepresented minority that also displays strong academics and scientific interest. Of course there are many anomalies but, overall, they look to see how much of a role MITES can play in your future success. After thinking about it myself, what I would suggest is to stop considering things that you can’t change like where you live (which really doesn’t give your application an incredible boost) or your ethnicity. In fact, think about the extremely poverty-level people who happen to live in an affluent district…MITES surely wouldn’t rule out the applicant because of that.

So lets all just chill =)

i agree^^ i stopped stressing a long time ago
PS welcome back!

Well, I just hope that I still qualify for ‘minority’ status. I’m white, but I’m an eastern European immigrant in a low-income family.
I also hope that they don’t cut based on GPA (3.43). My sophomore year was bad for me and caused me to drop .5 of a gpa. i explain everything in my essays, so i just hope they get a chance to read my essays and recs.

@JamaicanMehCrazy

My science teacher is the only one that turned it in online, while everything else was sent via snail mail about two weeks ago… hopefully everything is okay…

eobaggs, same here, except mine were mailed last week.

They emailed my science teacher and told him about the whole feb 28 thing, but they made it seem like they didn’t get my stuff so he’s going to call, but they did say they were processing papers, so I’m pretty sure they got them.

Mailed them in one big package last week.
