I wish non minorities at large thought this way too 
Sometimes I have “hated” myself because I was discriminated against. That’s why I can’t wait to get out of HS. I have a hope that wherever I go there will be mature and intelligent people who leave ignorance back in HS. </p>

<p>@cw my Calc teacher said that when we were talking about secant lines and such and he said “excuse the pun” but only I laughed at first because no one else understood yet XD</p>
<p>They basically hate me in that class because the teacher loves me. He’s the kind where once you get on his bad side, you’re on it for good. Since day one I raised my hand a lot, did my homework, etc and he loves me!
I have a 95-98 in his class (I forgot which). Nobody has even CLOSE, even the Val. My teacher says I have the highest out of all Calc ab. </p>
<p>And people say I only get good grades because I suck up…which I don’t… And that’s kind of impossible. If the answers wrong it’s wrong, right? And my teacher will surely tell you “how it is” no matter if that means embarrassing you. </p>
<p>On a side note- I can’t wait until the time when my rank GPA and test scores won’t matter anymore.</p>

i kinda know how you feel… the helplessness and the feeling of injusctice. i really hope you get into MITES, cuz the environment at MITES is really rewarding =)

<p>its really hard for me to imagine your situation though, because a lot of people at my school are really open about things…
probably cuz i go to an all-boy school (theres already enough rumors about us being rich gay kids =\ )</p>
<p>If there’s one thing I dislike, it’s arrogance. So lets refrain from calling ourselves smart and actually let our accomplishments speak for themselves.</p>
<p>As for the minority dialogue, the program is specified to be geared for minorities in engineering. Some might think if white people or asians apply they’re somehow looking to take the minority applicant’s spot, which has its validity in a way since there are a lot of other programs that aren’t like MITES. But I think if your circumstances make becoming an engineer tough, regardless of ethnicity, you deserve to apply and to make it.</p>

<p>so i sent out a big package with everything in it on wednesday and have been tracking it online. it was gonna be delivered today but nobody was there–i guess mit doesn’t get mail on saturdays? humph! oh well, it was still postmarked before the 18th and they’ll get it tuesday. i just want everything to get in so that if i don’t get accepted i know it won’t be from some mailing screw-up. i think that’s pretty fair.</p>
<p>anywayzzz, go diversity! something advanced classes at my school lack. (i’m the only “black” person in any of my classes, and i put black in quotes cause i’m only 25% jamaican…) </p>

<p>Does MITES update application status on weekends?</p>
<p>i sent in all my stuff in one package but it says recieved only for my guidance reference and trancript, does anybody elese have this problem. Maybe they havent processed it all but im starting to get worried. Plus, they updated my guidance and trancript, the day i sent it in which is a bit too quick I think. Im worried they got the stuff from a different kid with the same name (my name is very common) and are mixing us up. That would be horrendous.</p>

Apparently they’re real busy now. they wont respond to email or pick up calls.</p>
