MITES 2011 Information & Discussion

omg guys i just had the MOST stressful moment of my life!! so my package with everything in it was sent the 16th, and when my mom sent it she made sure to get a receipt and stuff so that we had proof of sorts if anything happened, but we didn’t think anything would happen. WELL SOMETHING HAPPENED. we tracked it online, and on saturday the 19th it said that there was nobody there to pick it up so it would be redelivered the next business day (which in this case was the next tuesday, as monday was a holiday) well that status never changed so we had to call to make sure it got delivered. first, we got stuck talking to a robot for fifteen minutes, and to no avail. when we finally got in contact with a real person, she took forever to figure it out and eventually we were told that it never got redelivered, but it was sitting at the post office waiting to be picked up! well DUH why would something addressed to MIT get picked up in person, especially when said item was supposed to be redelivered?! but we got it figured out and they are supposed to send it again tomorrow. luckily it has the stamp from the 16th. luckily i was getting impatient and checked the package status online again! and luckily my mommy is so patient and understanding even if she didn’t come off as such to the lady on the other end of the phone.

sorry that’s so long but it’s kinda my sigh of relief. (: if you actually read it, we can be bffs. if not, we can still be bffs. this summer’s gonna rock and roll all night long!!

I read it!!!

JMC- that is justified. I was only going to have 4 classes (5periods because of science lab) but I didn’t want to seem “inferior” to other applicants so I chose an honors class. So I should have one period of study hall every day, and then a study hall every other day when I don’t have physics lab.

I hope my schedule works out

PS I read it!

Man I hope mine got there :(

woah hahaha that is crazy…
but at least your mom got the confirmation stuff or else it would’ve came back to you i guess and that would’ve sucked!

i can’t wait until April, desperate now!!
Happy last day of March btw to all.

-And no worries about that long post, imo, its what keeps these threads going…

@Whateverhappens, when I saw your location, i was like “woah are we neighbors??” only to then realize those arrows leading in from the previous line, haha

I wish my school had a study hall option :|

however we can convince teachers to offer us independent study’s where we get to design our own courses and all, and i figured out this year if someone is taking a course at a univ. they can use an IS to work on that specific course

quesera–bff
CPU–i hope it does too, good luck (lolerz i just typed lick and i felt it was a noteworthy typo to share) (:

skepticidal–thank you for allowing me to write long posts; i think i might do it more often. i’m pretty quiet in person cause i can’t be my riDONKulous self without being completely shunned but you guys seem friendly enough to accept meeee so shpanx (: (:

Post #968----There are so many funny things about that :D

haha no problem
believe it or not here’s how i spent my day yesterday when i was suppose to be doing hw (last day of break):
i found out there were CC threads for MITES and the first one I came upon was from 2008 and had over 60 pages or something around that…

I spent over an hour just reading through… it was pretty interesting though :D

quesera–glad you think so. but what exactly justifies the  ? hehe

Because I think there’s something wrong with posts that don’t include some kind of smiley. Just the kid inside me :)

GUYS. it took me until nearly march, but i just found an online copy of my euro textbook. woooooooooooooooooooot. (:
EDIT: turns out it’s just a study guide to go along with the chapters ): super sad face.

quesera–i have a smiley face addiction too if you couldn’t tell but ugh i can’t stand the cartoon picture things that come up so that’s why i do my smileys backwards (: (: (: (:

skepticidal-- you mean happy last day of february??

man, im really scared now :frowning:
i sent my stuff 3 or so weeks ago…

I’m sticking to my original assumption that a llama ate my math teacher’s recommendation. That makes the most sense :/

@CPUscientist3000,
yes haha correct. i don’t know what i was thinking when i said march…

My counselor sent his portion in three weeks ago as well (yet incomplete) but i think/hope/think we’re all safe even though our status’ say ‘INCOMPLETE…’ as they did say they would contact us if anything was missing.

and apologies for my horrible grammar etc… (the one thing i like about SATs: Math)

skepticidal–i think you used some litotes in your last parenthetical insert there…

lalalala in class now just took first test :O

on CC in class on a test day = awesome.

how’d it go?
and just curious, how much into programming are you?

i learned a few languages but never actually got to do anything cool other then make simple programs that calculate such and such or identify chars in sentences etc. basically, the basics…

well i finished early :D

it was alright… it was the first test so i didnt know how the teacher’s method was

this is my first chance being fully introduced to programming. i went to a week invite program at fairfield u in 2006 and we did QBASIC but that’s it.
i plan on doing comp sci in college so this background helps

right now idk what to call what we’re doing lol. just buttons and if-then statements. but it’s kinda complex
