MITES 2011 Information & Discussion

@mexiocanican
I don’t think my opinions about admissions have too much weight, because they are probably biased and I’ve never been in an admissions office, but I do believe that everyone has a chance, and that MITES will look at everyone’s application holistically. I believe they’ll look on you favorably because you’ve overcome adversity. As for the scores, I’m not sure they matter all too much. I think MITES wants to see that you can do the work they will give you so they use scores as a threshold, but not as a make-it-or-break-it admissions standard. I think they’re looking more for personal qualities. :)

i applied to MITES as well…but i know i’m not getting in so i applied to LEAD and got in!!:)

are you going to accept LEAD?

entrevox–i personally have an aversion to any book assigned for school…but i didn’t think it was too bad and i definitely would’ve liked it better if i didn’t have a pop quiz every single day with dumb questions like “why did daisy get drunk before her wedding” pssh as if that matters? lol but yeah it was pretty good (:

mexiocanican–as for the test scores, i dunno. a high psat can get you to be a national merit scholar, but most places only look at sat (or act) scores, not necessarily psat. but in the big picture i’d probably say sat score is more important. aaand ocd? maybe, if it has been a challenging obstacle for you (did you write about it for that one essay?) but i think if it’s just mild then maybe it wouldn’t make a difference…i mean we all have ocd tendencies sometimes ya know? so it depends on the specific case.

LEAD IS ONLY FOR GIRLS THATS SO NOT FAIR :stuck_out_tongue:
hahahahahahahhaha i looked it up and, unless i cant read, its only for girls :)

LOL @JamaicanMehCrazy i just googled that quote and i thought it was like “hymn to the immortal wind” im pretty sure i just epic failed :slight_smile: lololol.

i think i already asked this, but does anyone here play ultimate? :O

no, i actually had ocd like with depression and all and went to psycologists, and of course i wrote about it since it made me the person i am today.

GAH, the wait slowly comes to a close, yet it’s still killing us on the inside and will either choose to continue or cease with new found glory depending on whether or not we get in

that sounded really philosophical :)

^^ i totally agree. that was incredibly pro.

wait what did you do mexioanican? :open_mouth: im so confuzzled.

im glad you were able to resolve this in a positive direction

zomg guys i have such a problem with procrastination yet i still find myself on here at 11pm with a good four hours of homework left!! lfsdjkfnmciujbnjgrasd plus i’m basically going insane cause i only have two more days till spring break and i have so many tests this week and i’m sad cause the weather’s not even nice and i’m not making sense so i’ll end this sentence now.
