MITES 2012 Information and Discussion

Yess all done. This is gunna be a crappy next two months waiting for a reply.
Hey you guys want to post your objective stats
Im not one of those irrational people who think they are all that go into admission, but I really want to see if what the admission trend is and how much of a crapshoot it is

Submitted!

I just realized that I may not be a minority… Would being an Indian male basically obliterate my chances at getting in…? :/

Did the MITES website just go down?

karlfrazier0236: I’ll post once I get my SAT score next Thursday.

So the application site is down… I still have to finish/upload my essays.

Yep, apparently people are overwhelming the site with apps.

Will they kill me if I have one essay at 327 words? I just cant cut it down any further without destroying it…

What if the site is down until tomorrow 11:59?
My math teacher still hasn’t sent in his recommendation yet (even though I reminded him a few times now and he always says he’ll do it…)
Plus I have to upload stuff.
ARGH. This is so aggravating.

Heheh… Good thing I uploaded my drafts. Maybe they’ll push back the deadline if the website stays down.

@Lanayru
Do you happen to have the essay questions? I have my drafts saved and I was intending to work on them some more, but it irritates me to not have the actual questions sitting in front of me.

I would be pretty upset if it stayed down until tomorrow. I’m hoping they’ll push it back at least a day.

Also, random question, but I haven’t even taken an SAT yet (I signed up for the March one). Will this be looked down upon if I don’t submit an SAT score but just a PSAT one?

Gahh, I need to finish my essays! All of my other stuff is in, but I can’t get myself to finish these essays.

Also, is it midnight eastern time?

Yes, it’s due 11:59 EST :)

NOOOO, IT’S DOOOWN.

I have three essays to go and my math teacher still hasn’t turned in her rec letter :[

Pentupenguin- wow, I feel like we are the same person. XD My math teacher hasn’t turned in his rec either, and I also have a few essays to go. ■■■.

@meatkabob ( and all others) : here are the essay questions :
Essay 1: What are your career goals? How might attending MITES support these goals?
Essay 2: Which one of your extracurricular or volunteer activities is most important to you and why?
Essay 3: How has your racial or ethnic identity affected your academic development? How has it influenced your aspirations?
Essay 4: Please describe a personal, social, or academic challenge you have faced and overcome.

I have one essay done, one that I have a 350 word draft of, and loose ideas for the other two… [pullin an all nighter - YouTube](<a href=“pullin an all nighter - YouTube”>pullin an all nighter - YouTube)

If MITES site stays down and deadline passes, would I pretty much miss the deadline? All I have to do is paste essays and click submit. I don’t want to be ineligible for such a minor issue…

@ngrohan, thank you so much!
@coffeeandtea, I’ll be pulling one with you I guess D: I don’t want the site to return for only a little bit and miss it.
@007math, If that happens, many of us will be affected, so I feel if they /do/ decide those who didn’t submit won’t be counted, we should write or email them and argue.

I havent sent in my SAT scores yet, how would I do that?
