Oh, right, I should say that I have very strong EC’s and I think my essays were great as well, but that’s just my opinion.

Hispanic from urban PA.

UW: 4.0
Weighted: 4.575
Rank: 1/383
PSAT: CR-57 (LOL), Math-740, Writing-690, Total-200
SAT: CR-730, Math-710, Writing-670, Total-2110

My rec letters were good and so were my essays. I have plenty of leadership positions. I’m sure they could fill all their spots with people a lot more qualified than I am, but I can still dream lol.

@007math - I also cannot access my application anymore. My math teacher emailed her stuff in and it was listed as not received as of yesterday so I’m not sure what to do…

welp, African-American from “urban” PA (it’s more of a “micropolitan” area)

NGA: ~98.6
GPA: 4.4
(I honestly don’t really know how my school calculates the above, but hey)
PSAT: CR-74, M-70, W-67, Total: 211
haven’t taken SAT’s yet
I didn’t read my rec letters but I assume they were pretty nice.
My essays could have been better and I made at least a few dumb typos (sigh).

African American Male from New York City
GPA: 90.03
SAT: 2000 CR:670 M:650 W:680
Assuming letters of recommendation were okay
Good essays, showed who I am, and the pattern of improvement that I have shown through out high school. I also received help from my AP English Teacher, and my parents.

what do you think of those credentials?

Lingering MITES Questions
Feb 20, 2012 10:05 am
How do I submit my Jan 28th SAT Scores?

Please email mites@mit.edu with a print screen of your scores, making sure to include your name and email on the right hand side of the screen as part of the picture.

How do I check that all of my materials have been submitted?

For those coming to check today (Feb 20th), we’ve had to push our confirmation date back given the technology issues (out of our control) we had around Feb 9th and 10th, that caused us to extend the deadline to the 15th.

We will open the application portal checklist for a week Feb 27th - March 2nd, in order for you to see if we have all of your materials. When you view the list, Steps 1 - 3 should be green. If it isn’t, please email mites@mit.edu at that time.

When will we be notified of decisions?

As noted in the confirmation email you received after your submission, students will be notified of their decision by mid-April.

Just sent my SAT scores, thanks @bublubu, it really helped me.

Ahh, I was wondering how to tell if they got everything. Thanks :D

Btw, wow. Looking at everyone’s stats, I know I’m not getting in. >.<

according to various mites alumni what the people care about most are your essays and letters of reccomendation

Crap >.< My recommendations are good and two of my essays are okay, but the other 2 suck. >.<

Update from the MITES portal:

How do I check that all of my materials have been submitted?

We will open the application portal checklist for a week March 1st - March 8th, in order for you to see if we have all of your materials. When you view the list, Steps 1 - 3 should be green. If it isn’t, please email mites@mit.edu at that time.

Do you guys know if your guidance counselor was supposed to upload your SAT/PSAT reports?

Alot of people on CC are worrying about sending their score reports, but I thought that your guidance counselor was supposed to send them along with their rec letter, school profile, transcript, etc?

Yeah, you’re guidance counselor is supposed to upload them.

On the condition that you already had your SAT scores available before the 2/15 application deadline. People were talking about sending the Jan 28 SAT scores, which became available one day after.

Hey guys, what time today are the apps going to be available to look over?

I don’t know but I hope soon. I have no clue if they got my psat scores.

Do you think that I still have a chance if I’m a white female?

Depends… Are you low income? First generation? Do you come from a school with any of the factors they list on their website?

If the answer is no to all of those, I have a feeling your chances are extremely low…

And I want to know if they got my recommendation!!! >…<

I’m a little bit more nervous about this one… just because chances are looking a little dim.

Time to check!!!

Confirming Receipt of MITES Materials

In order to verify that we have all of the information that we need in order to make a decision please click on the link next to the MITES box above.

After you click…

If everything is green:

Your application has been submitted, and we have all of your materials. You will be notified of your decision in mid-April.

If Steps 1 and 2 are green, but Step 3 (recommenders) is still yellow:

Please email mites@mit.edu immediately with the subject: “[Missing Recommendation]”, then include just the following in the text of the email:

Student Name; Name of Missing Recommender (Subject Taught); High School

(example: Joe Doe; Tim Beaver (Math); MIT High School)

Also contact your recommenders.

If Steps 1 and 2 are yellow:

Your application was not submitted on time, and will not be considered in this cycle of MITES applications.

Please note that we are still processing the applications. Therefore, some recommendations may change to a red x, if we determine that we are not able to open the files uploaded by your recommenders or that specific items are missing. We would suggest that you check the website a couple of time between now and March 15th.

Also note that your guidance counselor recommendation might be listed as not received, if we are missing any of the following:

1.Transcript
2.11 grade marks (1st semester), or
3.Your score report for the PSAT, SAT, ACT, or PLAN. (We only need one score report for one test.)

Any other questions, please contact mites@mit.edu

I do qualify for free lunch and my high school has over 50% qualifying for free/reduced lunch. So I hope they will consider me.
