lol. i’m guessing earliest will be next week.

Well the email didn’t rule out small mail. Who knows, we might get decisions both ways.

@Lanayru on the website it says they’ll give decisions through their application portal… so you’ll see it when you log on once it’s released I guess?

Rejected from another summer program ): Now I need MITES even more than before );

Why do they have go be so vague?! The wait wouldn’t be as bad if we had a day

which one?

SSEP…

sighs

If I get rejected from MITES too, I’ll be completely crushed… >.<

@sesamesesame

where on the website does it say that the decisions will be given online? i don’t see that anywhere…

I’m sorry, LesleyCordero :(

@molushola. someone emailed MITES and that’s what they said. look in the previous posts.

So I’ve been a forum stalker this whole time, but I had a question. What is this SSEP everyone applied to? I applied to SAMS at Carnegie Mellon besides MITES but that’s it. Oh and I’m from Dallas ^__^

From their website:

"ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Smith Summer Science and Engineering Program (SSEP) is a four-week residential program for exceptional young women with strong interests in science, engineering and medicine. Each July, select high school students from across the country and abroad come to Smith College to do hands-on research with Smith faculty in the life and physical sciences and in engineering. Girls who will be in high school (grades 9-12) in fall 2012 are eligible to apply for the summer 2012 program.

Established in 1990, the SSEP annually serves approximately 100 girls. Since its inception, nearly 1,800 high school students have participated, representing 46 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and 53 foreign countries. More than half of these students have been awarded need-based financial aid, and 40 percent are students of color. After the program, participants return to high school better prepared to tackle tough science courses and better informed about what to expect in college.

Smith College is one of the top-rated liberal arts colleges in the United States and the nations largest college dedicated solely to the education of women. Based in the multibuilding Clark Science Center, the Smith science faculty employs some of the finest researchers and teachers in the country. Smith undergraduates dont just hear and read about scientific research, they are active participants. As a result, for almost 30 years, Smith ranked third among private liberal arts colleges in the number of women who have gone on to obtain doctorates in the life sciences. In 1999 Smith became the first womens college in the nation to establish its own program in engineering science, the Picker Engineering Program.

But you dont have to wait until college to experience the benefits of a Smith education. The summer of 2012 marks the twenty-third year of the Smith College Summer Science and Engineering Program. The SSEP extends the benefits of Smiths strong traditions to girls still in high school. Participants in the summer program are taught by Smith faculty, live in a college house alongside Smith undergraduate interns and have access to all campus facilities. Central to the program is a learning environment that is rich in role models, hands-on, cooperative, investigative and challengingwhere girls get all of the facultys attention, all of the opportunities and all of the encouragement to achieve their best."

CantConcentrate: Oh wow, well thank you very much.

IndigoAudri: Well, no problem! :)

Yea on the app website in the MITES app update on the bottom of the page it says that the decisions would be coming back in mid-late april. so i wouldn’t expect them any time soon. maybe in like 2 weeks

I must admit even though I don’t post frequently I am a forum stalker :3
& fingers crossed it is next week (rejection or not, I want to know next week)

I applied to Georgetown and got accepted with a stipend and all expenses covered even airfare! I have to let them know by tomorrow…):

I also applied to be a U.S. rep at an environmental summit in Amsterdam and got accepted all expenses covered but I turned it down…notice deadline was Jan (I couldn’t get a deadline extension)

sighs

I doubt I will get into MITES though…I’m almost certain.

i saw that, but I @sesamesesame said that it said decisions will come out via internet specifically on the MITES website

IndigoAudri: I applied to SAMS and LEAD.

I was wait-listed at LEAD though.

How did you receive your rejection from Smith? I applied and haven’t gotten anything back

I hope they tell us next week too, all of this stress over acceptance or not is not helping with these end of the course exams
molushola: do you know when SAMS will let us know?
