Lol yeah, that’s where the convo’s really going on… :p

@LesleyCordero than MITES is a good way to go, but it isn’t your only way. Being asian doesn’t diminish your prospects, we had quite a few of that racial background. Just don’t worry really don’t, one thing I learned going through college acceptances and rejections is that they don’t determine your future and they definitely don’t speak to “how good you are”. If you get in than great you are part of a family that you will come to both love and revere and you will also spend your next 6 weeks in a sleepless stupor 80% of the time. If you are not admitted you are still an able bodied candidate, OEOP just felt you didn’t need to be here. That’s all it comes down too.

gahh. I haven’t looked at this post for almost a week and there were sooo many new posts. Someone posted 5.3% acceptance rate and now my stomach is in knots. I’m really nervous to get the results. I also applied to a medical internship at my local Children’s hospital and they only take 1 senior so if I don’t get into MITES the chances of me getting into that one are slim to none.

@yjadenw Thanks so much; you’ve been so helpful, and you’re right… Getting rejected by MITES or colleges doesn’t define you. (:

@adeneault13 Lol if you want some comfort, a couple of us CCers went through last year’s MITES thread and counted up the rejections/acceptances, and CC’s acceptance rate was at 41%… BUT, before you get excited, there were alot of people who didn’t say whether they were accepted or not, so that number is probably inflated… We estimated that CC’s acceptance rate is probably ~30%…

Yuppp, we had too much time on our hands last night. XD

Sooo I’m new 'round these parts but I definitely just read the supposed April 10th decision date and I’m actually peeing myself right now I just have to know.

Also being Asian is pretty annoying. any past participants know exactly how many asians were in the program total last year?

I’m so scared I really want to get in but I know I probably won’t since I don’t have the best PSAT scores and I am not a URM. I probably won’t be able to sleep until I find out now that I read that it most likely comes out tomorrow!

any chances that the results will come out online exactly at midnight?

@DreamingGirl
You are a girl (at least I’d assume so lol)

@Vyxl
Yeah I guess I am lol but still…

@setupcontrol
I hope they do and I’m going to stay up till 12:05 but I really doubt it.

also, MITES is based at MIT, so 12:00 am is EST. if you live anywhere west of that zone, it’ll be midnight “earlier”

How do we know that it’s April 10th?

@adeneault13 See post #515

@adeneault13 Someone called in and that’s what they were told.

but do we really think it will be up at midnight EST? unlikely right?

dont want to be depressing but 2 things:

1) there is no proof that April 10 is the results date
2) isn’t it foolish to have a facebook group before results come out? I don’t want to be apart of it and get rejected, only to see others posting their celebrations. I’d wait until results are out to make a group for the accepted people

Yeah that’s true. It’ll probably be during the day sometime

@maddestiny nods understandingly

the facebook group is awesome though…it’s a good way to talk to people who are going through the same things you are

And it’s really for support and fun times more than anything. Of course, there are people freaking out about it, but it’s pretty lighthearted discussion :)

Are you guy’s going to stay up just in case? I think another one of us should have called to make sure.
…and if it does happen good luck to everyone!(: I wish everyone the best of luck!
