Hi guys, i’m applying, and i’m just about done with my essays. The only thing holding me back from submitting my application is really my recommendation, and i hope to get them in ASAP. I’m really nervous about getting in because i know that i can really gain a lot from the program. It’ll be really cool if any previous attendants can share what they think MITES look for in students :)

I got a 199 on my PSAT and I know that’s pretty low so would it look better if I just didn’t show them my score? Any suggestions?

@collegeboyyy, I think you might want to take a look at this <a href=“MITES – MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering and Science”>MITES – MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering and Science;
I wouldn’t worry about it so much and send it. They’re probably going to base their decisions predominantly on the essays anyways.
Then again, that’s my view on the matter, and it’s up to you in the end.

The deadline’s coming…
The general mood is…

Well, it is in my mind…

if they do base their decisions predominantly on the essays it would be kind of unfair…at least grades should play an equal role in the decision

Who else is getting killed by the 300 word limit? :P

Haha…I think I went over the word limit by a few words with every essay except one. Hopefully that’s okay.

I read Dangitdang’s essays from last year and some of his were over 300 words, and he got in. Just don’t go overboard, I guess. XD

@Dangitdang I cannot read your essays from last year? Is that a website?

Did they have the invention essay prompt in previous years or is that relatively new?

@al2014, change the ‘xx’ to ‘tt’ ex: hxxp://www.google.com/ becomes http://www.google.com/
@icefairy, Well, I’m going by the assumption that they get a lot of applicants with very similar grades, and it’s the essays that really make one stand out from the rest.
Key word is assumption though. :)

Do we (the students) need to submit any test scores or transcripts, or does our counselor do that for us?

We need to submit PSAT, SAT, or ACT scores.

@al2014 ?? my counselor said he faxed everything to them, how would we send them the scores other than writing it in the application?
@MobiusUno thanks for clarifying I agree with ur statement if the assumption is kept in mind, lol :)

@icefairy so we shouldn’t have to worry about sending in the official scores and grades ourselves right? That’s for the counselor to do?

I didn’t submit my grades, but I did submitted my test scores. It was part of the application.

i think so, but please please please double check because I’m not completely sure, my counselor just told me that he sent everything (transcript, scores) over :/

I don’t know if you need to but the application asked you if you have taken the SAT PSAT or ACT. If you clicked yes it gave you blanks to put your scores.

It is part of the counselors requirements to submit your grades and test scores but your application also gave you the option of putting the scores as part your application.

yep, i entered the scores there, on the application itself, but i think ojeshsh was asking about official score reports?

what are you guys writing about in your essays? im about to turn mine in but im still curious
