MITES 2013 Discussion

Alternate for RSI… come on MITES, make it good
Also, if the admissions timing is anything like RSI’s was, we should know more around late March - early April :)

Oh man, I was thinking more like mid-April o:

Yesterday I got an email that said “admissions” and I thought it was from MITES and I almost died :(

Well I certainly I hope I get in… If not then it goes to SSP… Lol :o

I would stick to mid-April, because that’s what it says on the website. It would be nice if we got them prior to that, but I doubt it.

Like some others here, now that RSI is out of the question, I’m hoping for MITES! I didn’t expect to get into RSI anyways, but maybe, I’ll get into MITES. Good luck!

Sorry you guys didn’t get into RSI :(

Hopefully we all get into MITES :)

Has anyone that attended MITES also played a fall varsity sport? Were you able to balance workouts/training with MITES work without sacrificing the quality of either?

Being Asian doesn’t help one’s chances, right >_>

@hangooksaram Of course being Asian helps! To revise my previous post, the ideal MITES candidate is, in fact, a 10th generation college Asian (international applicant) with below average SAT scores and a sub-par GPA. If your parents make over a million dollars a year, then that’s just an added bonus. Throw in a little bit of white guy into your lineage and you’re a shoe-in for any college in the United States. Make sure to let them know that you’re not a legacy, they prefer those. One more thing… don’t even bother applying if you’re black or hispanic, there are way too many of those enrolled at elite universities…

@Rivstein
I certainly hope you are kidding about all of that. Mostly the last part I’m hispanic…

Yes, all of that post was pure sarcasm. I don’t think being Asian helps, but it definitely is possible to get in as an Asian.

@Ozzy he’s kidding haha x) I’m Hispanic too :)

I just noticed last night that I made a grammatical error in one of the essays I submitted :(

blah i’m afraid i won’t be accepted to any summer programs -.-
gosh i want to get into MITES so badly D:

@hangooksaram, I just remembered when we apply to MITES it includes E2@MIT for 1 week residential. haha I think we both would at least get into that?

^wait what is that o.o

Reply to my private messages :stuck_out_tongue: it’s a one week residential camp at MIT free for people qualified for MITES but couldnt get in because of limited spots

thank you thank you

Is E2@MIT as prestigious as MITES?

MITES is definitely the most prestigious out of the three. MOSTEC and E2 are not really summer programs, but small things (except for the long six month deal you get with MOSTEC online) that are for students who were qualified but did not get in due to the limited spots. I really want to get into MITES, as it would be a six-week deal instead of just one week like E2.

does anyone know when notifications come out?

Notifications should go out around mid-April
