I didn’t apply anywhere else because I wouldn’t get a counselor rec on time.

@Alpha2014

We’d have to ask one of the alums (like dangitdang), but I’m not sure if private school students compose a lot of the MITES admitted pool, let alone an Asian private schooler. Other than that you seem like a sure fit.

@all of you

I’m pretty sure it’s too late to make changes to the app. I emailed them about a score report I never submitted and they responded, “the MITES office WOULD have needed an unofficial score report, yes.”

I sent it in anyway, but they never replied. As far as sending in a whole new score, I wouldn’t even bother. It doesn’t hurt to try though.

Some of the awards on my stats I received after applying, so it makes me look less sexy. My GPA went up too, which makes me look less sexy yet again.

Sexy? LOL. You made my night.
I accidentally sent in a whole new score report in the last email I sent them…and I think they accepted it I am just a lucky person or something

D: I wish I applied to more programs…I was just rejected for one program a few days ago and will receive notice about another program in April. Blah. I really don’t wanna be disappointed again…

All of my programs are sending out acceptances in mid to late April… I honestly don’t think I can wait that long.
But then again, school starts again tomorrow, which should keep me busy for the month of waiting in between XD

Rivstein, we gotta stay in touch if we both go… At this point I kinda want to do SIMR and E2 or MOSTEC, it would look better if I do two summer programs

…so true; too bad MITES is my only hope. I wish they considered financial status.

I agree about staying in touch. This thread needs a little something to make my time seem less wasted. Perhaps a revealing statistic or an in-depth account of what happens at MITES. I also wouldn’t mind some pics or videos. I’m nearing depression…

Ahaha, not me. I wish I’d found it earlier… then maybe I would have found YSP and other sophomore research programs and done those. I did a course at Brown last year on “Nervous System in Health and Disease,” through which I learned a lot and met some AMAZING people. But there’s still a part of me that wishes I could have gotten some good old fashioned research in there.
But still. Mid-April could honestly not come any slower at this rate.

I love it how I go away for a competition and in five days this thread gains five pages. Not gonna lie, I love reading all these posts, everyone’s reactions are priceless XD

Anyhow, the thing that bothers me most is that now I have to finish my quest-bridge application in case I don’t get into MITES -.-

@Rivstein, I will be doing the same lol. Oh, and to the “what kind of hispanic” question (5 pages ago): I am Venezuelan.

omg… I feel like everyone will get accepted except me because I’m a private school Asian T-T… And all of you are all URM. I mean I’m sure they will take some Asians for diversity purposes but probably like from the Mongolians, Laos or some really URM country. but in my case I would be considered as a pacific islander cause I’m not from the big 4 (China, Korea, Japan and… uhm…India(?) not really lol)
