MITES 2013 Discussion

Alpha, Lucky @_@ We had to raise $4000 for our competition…our school refuses to help us at all.

So many car washes >.<

As far as being rebellious, my mom doesn’t even ask me anymore. She just says good night. She knows I’m going to be up between 11 and 12 doing homework. I am so glad I’m on break right now.

Ugh, I feel bad for you man, I don’t thing I could be able to do that. In our case, for us to do FRC, we went broke. Our accounts are almost at $0. Our school only helped us for registration; sponsors wise, none, we are living off of district grants, which is less than 10k a year.

Thanks but I just feel like I am not good enough yet, all I want is a 2100 and 3.8+ but I tend to screw that up lol. Reason I don’t think that is good is because of the trend of students attending MIT that I have met. From my school and people I’ve met, most of their GPA’s were 3.9+, only one had a 3.7 or so and everyone 2050+ SAT’s. I really want to attend MIT, it’s my dream university and everytime I look at my lower choices (asides from CalTech), I think “these schools can’t compare to MIT.” Bit of an existential crisis lol.

@Leviticus
Well, most people going have dates, and I don’t want to be the third wheel.
There a few guys who I think might ask me, but I don’t really want to go with them and I don’t have the heart to flat-out say no, so I’d rather just say I’m not going at all… Not proud of that, lol.
And also, I have pretty much every weekday and weekend booked until school ends, so I don’t have time to go dress shopping.
It’s okay, though. I have next year :)

Can I ask why you chose Leviticus for your username?

My parents and I don’t really converse, and I haven’t been forced to go to bed since I was in middle school or so. Benefits of having 3 sleep disorders (except there are not enough benefits in the world to make up for having any sleep disorder).

@Ozzy: Haha, I wish I could do that! My curfew is 8:30 on weeknights (9 if I’m at church) and 11:30 on weekends. It suckssss.

@Mobius: My parents are such light sleepers, oh my gosh. I once stayed up until about 3am writing a paper, and when I slowly crept up the stairs to my room, my mom woke up and caught me because the stairs creaked.

@lldm Yikes, that sounds terrible.

Bleh everyone here does robotics, nobody does any math. Also, my school doesn’t have junior prom, only a senior one, although if your date is a senior, you can go.

The advantage of having an laptop (and a desktop in your room) :D

run1116, Come on, ROBOTS ;D
We’ll I did do the Moody’s Mega Math Challenge, but other than that, my school’s ‘math team’ doesn’t really interest me as much as robotics and Sci Oly. We’re just so crazy and fun it’s hard to move anywhere else

@lovely Oh man haha well that sucks :frowning: I’m debating whether or not to ask the girl that I’m talking to right now. I’m pretty sure she would say yes unless she’s busy (she doesn’t go to my school, we met somewhere else) or something. I kinda don’t want to go though, dances are annoying -___- oh and I also can’t dance lol

I chose Leviticus because it just sounds cool haha and I like how firm and clear the book is when the Law is being established in the Old Testament :slight_smile: I think it kinda reflects my personality because I’m a very serious, no non-sense kinda guy.

@run Math/Science Team right here! Going to Regionals for Number Sense and Science in a couple of weeks (didn’t qualify in math or calculator) so I’m pretty pumped. :D

Hi I am from California. Are you guys anxious for the MITES results? These threads make me LOL sometimes so I though I might as well get involved :P

^This creeper will get accepted. I don’t even need to know his stats, but when the deadlines approach, the creepers encroach.

A blog… I received my second warning for profanity today (on CC), lol.

Check out those two rebels going to sleep at 11 and 12… Haha.
11 and 12 is when I go to sleep on a good day. All nighters at least 2 or 3 times a month.

I am not from MINECRAFT! I swear it… :3

I guess that was a bad joke. Anywho! If you and I get in you will realize how creepy I really am… teeheehee…

@FRCPeople: YES. 1477(Texas Torque) is currently competing at Razorback Regional… it’s our last chance to qualify for Worlds, so everyone is extremely hyped. At every other regional we’ve attended this year, we’ve either been seeded in the top 8 (1st at Alamo, 2nd at Lone Star, and 6th at Bayou), but we’ve had horrible luck in eliminations. What teams are you guys on? (I know your team, Ozzy :smiley: )

And as for sleep… no. Midnight is my average sleep time, even on weekends. I just can’t sleep any earlier than that.

@CanoR0604: We’re all one huge MITES-waiting family. Join in.

@Hoctopi
Yay! I feel a little bit more accepted! :3
This is better than solving for 7th degree Taylor polynomials, I think. Procrastination is the key here. :3

@Cano That was super creepy. lbs But who isn’t at times?

@Riv Being a rebel just comes naturally. lol Don’t get me wrong, I have my fair share of all nighters, but it’s only because of the homework load and me getting out of school at 5, which also doesn’t include extracurriculars or volunteering.

Speaking of extracurriculars, you guys make my Spanish Club, NHS, and FBLA look bad. I want to do Robotics and would love to have been in the Decathlon, but my school doesn’t have any of that. :(
