What should I keep in mind when applying? MITES is my first choice
@FellowBonist Just keep in mind that scores don’t mean anything! Plenty of us don’t apply with good scores. Yes, some of us have those precious 1500s+, but most of us don’t. That’s why chance me’s don’t really apply when it comes to MITES. All the OEOP staff are looking for are underprivileged, minority students who have a strong, demonstrated passion for STEM subjects.
Following thread
@PhysicsIsNotPhun Will MITES still accept people not underprivileged?
If my dumbass teacher never submitted his recommendation letter, am I no longer considered for the program?
two of my teachers also did this despite constant reminders. I’m guessing we are no longer considered.
How do the application process go for everyone ?
Apparently all mit summer programs are going to be canceled. Just so you guys know
@Neurorocks03
How do you know this? Did you hear from their office?
@mom2boys1999 someone said RSI was canceled, and I know another program at MIT was canceled. MIT also apparently sent some mostec alumni that they planned on canceling all programs. We just have to wait for the email I suppose!
Oh this is on the blog:
“ Prospective students
Today, MIT’s COVID response team announced that, in light of current public health guidance, the Institute will not host or sponsor any in-person K-12 student programming through the summer of 2020.01 This includes the information sessions and tours conventionally hosted by our office, as well as the many summer programs hosted on campus by other departments and/or external partner programs.
Our day visit team is working to rapidly develop strategies and content to help prospective students and their families learn more about campus through some kind of online delivery system,02 and will post more information as we have it.”
“MIT will not host or sponsor any in-person K-12 student programming during the summer of 2020. This includes:
on-campus programs operated by MIT
on-campus programs run by external vendors who rent space from MIT
off-campus programs that send MIT students, staff, and faculty into local, national, and global communities to work with K-12 students”
So beyond depressing
I just received an email from MIT’s OEOP. They said there will only be MOSTEC this year.
Does anyone know when decisions for MOSTEC will be released?
Mid April
I’d say good luck to you all but at this point it’s already determined whether or not you got in, so good hope to you all and hopefully they release the decisions tomorrow.
What dates were they released last year and how do we check whether or not we got in?
@Joe11223456 I think last yr was April 16th and before it was 15th
F its delayed until end of April now
