Mix and Match

Just sent this letter, if anyone knows the answer, please post.

I just have a quick question about SAT scores and I have found that every school has a different answer. Do you accept scores from different SAT Reasoning Tests, as in, can you combine scores from two seperate sit-downs? If I do poorly on one test in Math, but well on a second try in math, but i'd like to keep my critical reading and writing scores from the first test, do you allow that? Hopefully I make sense.

yes, the admission committee takes your top score from each section.

Yeah -- top score for each section over the period of however many SAT tests you take.

So, if you get a 500 Math and a 800 Verbal on one test, then retake it and get a 800 Math and a 500 Verbal, the admissions committee would calculate your SAT score to be a 1600.

I'm curious, what institution does not do it is this way?

University of California campuses take your best score from any 1 test taking day. In your example, the person would have a 1300 either way.
