Hi there! I'm a prospective International freshman from Indonesia and i was wondering if i could get some expert views on some issues?

I've applied to Smeal for Fall 2012, and i'm hoping to hear back in a couple of days.

1) What's the deal with the "summer option" on the application. i clicked it, but how will this affect my fall acceptance, did it increase my chances? What happens if i can't attend it???

2) As far as the "summer session" goes i know what it is and i don't mind attending it, but what if i'm accepted straight into fall? Is there anyway i can enroll in summer courses?

3) How do internationals fare at penn state? I've gorwn up in an international community and i consider english to be my first language, but i've never been to Penn before! How do you think i would settle as i've heard penn state isn't such a diverse campus?

And the weather!!!!

Nevertheles, i'm also very active with sports, journalism and service so i hope i can meet new freind through activities and intramural

4)How good is penn state's reputation? in terms of job prospects and all

The summer option will be given to you if you are a bit below standards of the average fall applicant for whatever reason. It is meant to help you adjust to college. If you are accepted for the summer session, you must attend if you wish to go to University Park campus.

You can still sign up for summer classes if you are accepted for fall.

although it has a low minority rate, it is still a diverse campus with people from all over the country and the world. Everyone is pretty accepting. I love sports and journalism too. :)

Penn State was ranked the #1 school in the country of having job ready students by national recruiters. Very well known and a great institution.

Smeal is the the number 1 top business school for recruiting as you know. So you have picked the best school. Summer session is offered to students that have a lower gpa. Yes, the summer session will still be offered to you even if you got offered fall admission. It’s a great school, you will find your niche. My daughter is a freshman in the eberly college of science and loves it. Good Luck to you

Thanks for the feedback guys! Much appreciated!

My status just changed to “result will be posted in a few days” btw!
It changed very quickly seeming that I only applied 30 days ago!

Oh does anyone know the:

Major/Minor policy over there cuz I really want to take a major and a minor!

I’m also a foodie and i know penn state offers classes at the agr. school on ice cream making and food safety, are these certificate classes or what? (Because i don’t really want to be a food scientisit but i think taking these classes could help me later on as well as add to feed my passion) :)
