Miami University (which is in Oxford, Ohio) with University of Miami (in Florida) and Cornell College with Cornell University. I heard that some people apply to Cornell College ED thinking that they’re applying to Cornell U lol.
I remember the first time I saw Haverford’s name I thought that they were some crappy school riding on Harvard’s coat tails. Boy was I wrong lol

Trinity College and Trinity University. There are several Loyolas too (Loyola College in Maryland , Loyola University in Chicago and NOLA) and Loyola Marymount in California. Confusing.

I definitely committed the USC error when one of the U of South Carolina recruiters asked me for info at the FIRST Championship last year. I filled it out because I vaguely remembered the acronym USC, then turned to ask a teammate after the recruiter was gone, “So… USC’s good, right?” “Oh… not that USC” And then they didn’t even send me any info anyway!

I remember when I used to get mail from colleges trying to attract me; I definitely saw Haverford in there and agree with StevenSeagal’s remark. Definitely thought they were ripping off Harvard’s name and some trashy school. Though liberal arts places aren’t my thing, I have grown to learn that Haverford isn’t to be sneezed at.

DW and DD2 visited Cornell College (it’s in Iowa). They were told that they almost always have an international student show up thinking they are at Cornell U.
