Mixing up the names of schools

What's really annoying/funny is when people get colleges confused.

Like

Cal Poly Pomona with Pomona College
Haverford with Harvard
Claremont McKenna College with Claremont Mechanics College

Has anybody heard of other mix ups?

Penn and Penn State
Whitman and Whitworth
Wellesley and Wesleyan

Stanford and Samford.

UCSD with San Diego state

UCSB with UCB

Weslayen College vs. University, big difference, the college is all girls.

Harvard vs. Haverford
Northeastern vs. Northwestern

Miami University (which is in Oxford, Ohio) with University of Miami (in Florida) and Cornell College with Cornell University. I heard that some people apply to Cornell College ED thinking that they’re applying to Cornell U lol.
I remember the first time I saw Haverford’s name I thought that they were some crappy school riding on Harvard’s coat tails. Boy was I wrong lol

USC vs USC. so cal, so carolina =]

DePaul and DePauw

yeah Washington U in st louis vs. wash state
My friends cousin actually ended up going to San Diego State thinking it was UCSD

Ucsb, ucsd

Grinnell with Cornell (they actually sound really similar when you say it out loud!)

Washington & Lee University and Washington & Jefferson College

Trinity College and Trinity University. There are several Loyolas too (Loyola College in Maryland , Loyola University in Chicago and NOLA) and Loyola Marymount in California. Confusing.

I definitely committed the USC error when one of the U of South Carolina recruiters asked me for info at the FIRST Championship last year. I filled it out because I vaguely remembered the acronym USC, then turned to ask a teammate after the recruiter was gone, “So… USC’s good, right?” “Oh… not that USC” And then they didn’t even send me any info anyway!

I remember when I used to get mail from colleges trying to attract me; I definitely saw Haverford in there and agree with StevenSeagal’s remark. Definitely thought they were ripping off Harvard’s name and some trashy school. Though liberal arts places aren’t my thing, I have grown to learn that Haverford isn’t to be sneezed at.

Cornell Univeristy vs. Cornell College

rofl,i remember reading a thread last yr when a kid applied for Cornell college, which was not his intention at all… lol…

DW and DD2 visited Cornell College (it’s in Iowa). They were told that they almost always have an international student show up thinking they are at Cornell U.

Wesleyan vs. (insert state name here) Wesleyan

UGH

Wellesley v Wesleyan !

One only for girls… the other is co-ed :)

California University of Pennsylvania often trips people up…
