Mizzou about to beat Cornell...

Nobromo --

There's nothing to be ashamed about attending Penn. It's a great school. A friend from my high school played linebacker under Joe Paterno and went on to win a Super Bowl ring with the Indianapolis Colts.

Plus, the surrounding countryside really is pretty. Perhaps not as 'gorges' as Ithaca, but it sure beats being in an ugly, smelly city.

I know you will do well there.

^lol nothing wrong with the lowest ivy and public school

^ i don't know if i'd say there's NOTHING wrong with penn, but it's a pretty fine place if your thing is college football and lions

Nobromo -

You should really stop ragging on Brown. It may be consistently ranked the lowest of the Ivies, but it's still an incredible institution.

^u mean cornell.

Someone please post details of NCAA hockey tournament match(es), when this is known.
And when did Yale learn to play hockey?

Cornell is playing Northeastern in Grand Rapids on Saturday at 4PM EST. It will be broadcast on ESPNU.

And Yale, along with Princeton, started to have good hockey programs around the time that they expanded their financial aid packages to be competitive with the scholarship schools.

Why hasn't Harvard followed suit, you may ask? Well, because they suck.

But at least they actually field an ice hockey team, unlike Penn... State.

In fairness, if Cornell had the kind of football program they have, maybe it would not care much about hockey either.

You missed the humor. "Penn State" has a football team that is just as bad as Cornell's, yet they can't even bother to lace up a team in a sport where the Ivies have a chance at being competitive at the national level.

Same thing goes for Penn's men's lacrosse, wrestling, crew, etc. They just aren't good at much of anything these days. Oh, and don't forget about the train wreck that is Glen Miller's basketball program. I feel pretty bad for any Quakers fans out there these days.

I do suppose that they can take solace in the fact that their business school graduates outstanding stewards of our world economy... oh wait.

C'mon now, they have some great business alums. I actually met Frank Smeal, nice guy.

rofl.

And CR2005, if I have guessed your identity correctly, I believe you were mentioned in today's Daily Sun :)

I suppose the secret's out. I'm actually a current senior on the baseball team:

http://cornellsun.com/section/sports/content/2009/03/24/baseball-goes-west-returns-nine-losses

haha score pumps fist

No, I don't. Do some research before throwing false labels around.

CR2005's messing with you, chendrix. Might not want to take the victory sip just yet.

^ I would hope that Chendrix realizes that, but that my non-denial provides him with all of the information that he needs.

The funny thing is that a lot of the pre-frosh on this board know who I am. But none of the alumni regulars -- monyday, AppleJack, Dew, norcalguy, myself -- have really any idea of each respective persona behind each alias.

I've revealed myself to one of the regulars on this forum and knowing the persona behind the alias made it a lot easier to provide admissions advice. Personally...I don't mind people knowing who I am. I just don't want any stalkers :D

lol, my second post was meant to be placed before CR2005's later one.

i got a pm from nobromo last night:
"have you got into any ivy league schools yet? thats what i thought. no need to diss what you can never have. "

i responded:
"actually i have gotten into an ivy rofl but nice try"

to which he replied:
"lol cornell isnt an ivy. and neither are those ****ty public school that are part of cornell"

so i said:
"'Cornell is one of two private land grant universities, and a member of the Ivy League.' (according to wikipedia)

oh, and thanks for specifying that components of schools that are not ivies are not ivies- it takes a penn state-like intelligence to figure that out"

but he still wasn't done:
"lol u probably couldnt get into penn. cornell is weak **** son."

so then i said:
"cornell arts and sciences was actually as hard to get into this year as penn a&s but oookay"

This thread is supposed to be about sports.
suggest let's try to confine comments to thoughts about sports at Cornell, or if necessary the other schools that came up, e.g. Missouri and Penn State.
BTW, I think they're playing in the NIT.

I agree. How did a nice thread about Cornell and Penn State basketball turn into another Cornell vs. Upenn b*tchfest?
