So I've narrowed my choices down to these four schools: Mizzou, Loyola (Chicago), Indiana University (Bloomington), and Boston University. I want to study journalism and I know all these schools have either great journalism/communication programs. If you could rate them 1 - 4 (best to worst) that'd be great! Thanks :]

I can tell you that Missouri’s is much widely recognized for good journalism than the other three.

I’ve never actually heard the other three mentioned for journalism. When I think of good journalism schools, I think Missouri, Maryland, University of Wisconsin - Madison, Northwestern, NYU, and University of Texas.

Okay, so say I had no idea what I wanted to study…how would you rate these schools? (considering the location, overall academics, reputation, social scene…etc)?

If you have no idea what you want to study:
- BU (if price is no object)
- IU
- Mizzou
- Loyola

FOR JOURNALISM:
- Mizzou
- IU
- BU
- Loyola

Just my 2 cents. Of the four, I only applied to Mizzou and Indiana (interesting considering I’m from New York). If you have any questions about Mizzou, feel free to let me know. I’m a freshman journalism major in the honors college this year and I’d be happy to help you like so many CC-users helped me when I was applying to Mizzou last year.

Okay, what if the question was between just Indiana University and Mizzou? Know that their journalism program is important, but not a priority. Which school would you chose and WHY?

Maybe your question should be, “Why did you choose Mizzou, and what do you like about it?” Then post the same question on the Indiana University board.

For what it’s worth, my S loves Mizzou. He has a friend and a cousin at Indiana, and both love their school, too. Comparing schools like these–both big midwestern universities, both with individual strengths–it’s a personal choice.
