MLA Style: Can you have foot notes in MLA?

In school I wrote this paper in MLA format and I included like ten foot notes. Can there be foot notes in MLA formatting?

I’m pretty sure that’s inconsistent with the style, but I’d say it’s okay if it’s for additional information. For references and citations, use parenthetical documentation. Might wanna get a second opinion though.

Oh okay, I will notify my teacher on Monday to see if it is alright. Thanks.

we’re doing this huge project where we have to write like 12 essays over a period of like 3 weeks, and today the teacher gave us some refreshing on MLA…

apparently you don’t use foot notes, and like retrohippo said, use parenthetical citations instead.

Yes, you can use them in MLA.

You’re not supposed to use it in MLA, but my teacher (who goes crazy whenever there is a mistake with the format of a paper) accepts it. I’d ask your teacher beforehand.

You can use them, but you should use them for bibliographical purposes and not for explanatory purposes (or just not too often)
