<p>I don't completely understand the purpose of having an "equity opportunity" for minority students. Does UMN automatically expect these students to have a more difficult time adjusting to college?</p>
<p>Yeah, I don’t understand it either. It looks like it is meant to help those people within the community with certain benefits not seen in the greater university. For instance, when I try to see my advisor, I have to make an appointment far in advance because she has hundreds, of others wanting to see her as well. If you are in this community, you get an advisor that will be more readily available. Although, I also do not understand why people would be selected into this thing directly. Give them a call or email and ask.</p>
