haha. How many of you are being unnecessarily obsessive about your answers in the quick take section?

I mean, you want to pick an impressive quote for the "favorite quote" question. But you don't want to be obvious by picking Emerson or Thoreau or something. You gotta go for something you actually like, but is still somewhat pretentious. ahaa. I think I'm going for some James Joyce. :D

The quick take answers need not be super serious and they are not judged. They're just there to give both the applicants and admission readers a break from the seriousness of the other stuff. They even read out some of the funnier and more original answers in the auditorium at the Explore sessions for accepted students.
For the quote though, just choose one that has some meaning to you, whether profound or light hearted.

Oh I know they don't seriously consider the Quick Takes. I was mostly just joking about how I can't really help but obsess over them. I've been obsessing about this application for so long that I'm even overanalyzing the simple, irrelevant parts.

That's an excellent quote.
For my leisure activity I considered saying, "Late night In-n-Out runs with my friends." Because I seriously do that just about every weekend.

*Last book you read for pleasure: World War Z: The Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks

*Best movie of all time: Beverly Hills Chihuahua

*Favorite quote: "You guys have it real easy. I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and youre going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you." - Bill Murray as Herman Blume in Rushmore

^I thought that was painfully ironic.

*Dream job: Hustler

I actually might use some of those answers. heh.

I originally had a quote from fight club.... which to be sounded like a grab hold of the moment and just do it kind of thing... but someone pointed out to me that it sounded quite pessemisitic it was "on a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone becomes zero" or something along those lines... so I changed it... found another quote which sounded just as good and that i liked just as much... but I obsessed over my entire appliction... so didn't make much of a difference which section it was

I JUST SUBMITTED MY APPLICATION YESS.
My life is already so much better now that this is over. All my applications are now submitted. All I have to do now is wait.

By the way, my fav quote ended up being: “A man of genius makes no mistakes; his errors are volitional and are the portals of discovery.” - James Joyce
And that actually is one of my favorite quotes. So yay? I really did want to use that Rushmore quote, though. It's so perfect.

All I can tell you is that last year someone got in who said that his role model was McLovin'. Really. (Parents were told about this in a speech during an accepted students weekend.)
