MMSS Freshman, taking questions

You sure that's how he/she should guage? For someone without the pre-reqs, it's gonna look hard even if he/she's very capable.

Well, I mean, that'd mean the person has to go to the first lecture of a fall quarter freshman MMSS class then, which might be hard to find at this time of the year. He/she will be lost in any class he/she visits here, and if this is not the case then he/she is just going to waste his/her money for four years here :)

Thanks for that info on the class. I think I will come up for my visit earlier than I planned so I can visit it. I'm generally pretty good at picking up on things quickly, so hopefully I will be able to understand a small portion of what's going on.

Hey, and SamLee is right, don't be too worried if you don't get most of the stuff (heck, I've been taking stuff like this for two years now and I don't get close to all of it), but be worried if you don't get any and are just appalled at sitting there.

hi, i just accepted to NU for the class of 2011, and only recently found out about the MMSS program. however the deadline was march 1st, and i only submitted the form in april. (hoping cos they wrote on their website that applications after the deadline might be considered)

i got 800 for my sat 1 maths and sat IIc maths, and a pretty rigorous maths combination for my high school period. what are my chances of still making the program in freshman, and is there anything else i can do to try improve my chances?

54.73%.

Just to be on the safe side though, email the director of the program with your concerns and situation and I am sure he will be understanding and nice about it.

When I visited last week, I stayed with a freshman who had been accepted as an engineering student and switched to MMSS at Preview NU, so you have a shot.

Couple of MMSS questions:

Is there a dorm which the MMSSers gravitate to (sort of like how the engineers go to Slivka?) I'm looking for more of a Slivka type dorm, as in less emphasis on partying than say, oh, Bobb McCulloch.

Is there time for MMSSers to do stuff like the Business Institutions Program and Learning and Organizational Change? Or are the classes so hard that most are struggling just to keep afloat?

not that i know of

classes are pretty easy; ive found time for 4 other classes/quarter on top of the 2 mmss ones, a part time job and some other random interests so i wouldnt worry about time

"4 other classes/quarter on top of the 2 mmss ones"

So you are taking 6 a quarter and are having a job at the same time. Wow.
