Mock Trial Senior Year?

Hello, I’m currently a junior and a very busy one. I have been on the Golf, Water Polo and Swim teams since freshman year. I have been Varsity in Golf since last year and now will be varsity water polo and most likely varsity swim. I have no interest in dropping any of these sports. I also am a very good student and currently have a 4.4 GPA and have had straight A’s since middle school until my first and only B this year in the hardest AP class that my high school has to offer. I also joined the Compact Club and Key Club this year. Next year I will be taking 4 AP classes while continuing my sports and my clubs. I have recently talked to an old friend of mine that I haven’t talked to in a while and he told me that he is in Mock Trial and that I should join. I think that it would be really fun and I have been looking into being a lawyer also. I also have trouble talking in front of people and think that it would help me with my presentation skills. I want to join, but I feel that colleges would see that I joined my senior year and would think that I was only trying to put more things on my application. Is it a good idea?

Mock Trial is a great activity, but - depending on how your school structures it - a huge commitment time-wise. I wouldn’t think that it would be possible to continue with all of those sports and be able to participate in Mock Trial unless the team meets exclusively during the school day. At my daughter’s school, during the 2 months before competition, they met 2 to 3 times a week after school to practice.
