Hello everyone!!

This is for people with experience in international programs, Model UN, and/or Leadership Conferences AND those that know what college admissions likes to see. I have been selected to represent my high school at either a Model UN competition or a Leadership Conference(both in South Korea). I have to choose which would be a greater benefit to me on the following grounds:
I want to know which will trip benefit me more as far as the quality of the experience, its impact on my future in the foreign service(I want to work for the State Department and major in political science centered on foreign studies), and college admissions.

Here's some further background: I've been debating academically and lobbying for advocacy organizations. Because of this, I have become very comfortable with public speaking and the kind of process I would expect Model UN to be. Although this ability will definitely help me in what I want to do, I am definitely trying to transition to communicating with others for a common purpose, rather than focusing on furthering personal interests(of a debate partnership, organization, or "country"). It seems like this would be a skill I'd gain from the Leadership Conference(it's all about collaboration and meeting modern issues). Am I correct in thinking the same wouldn't be true of Model UN? What you see as the benefits of Model UN and of the Leadership Conference(based on your personal perception of what people do at each of those events in general)? What kind of recognition could I get from the Leadership Conference and Model UN? We are the only Western school invited and I am one of the few students selected for both. Is Model UN looked upon more favorably by admissions? How good would some sort of victory at the Model UN event look on a college application? Would the Leadership Conference actually look good?

Also, the Leadership Conference looks like it will be two days longer than the Model UN competition. Dates aren't fixed as of yet. That is a somewhat selfish reason for requesting the Leadership Con, but it is still a factor in my decision because as I see it, the longer we're there, the happier I'll be. (:

I welcome any input!!!!
