Why dont you get that stick out of your ass IMVIENAM ? im on here trying to ask for help and instead of just of just moving along you have to comment back in a malicious way. Dont worry it was a typing issue i just really hope you had the guts in real life to tell me this in person so i can really give you some flawed comments. And probably shove your fance in while im at it =)

Just for the record, I honestly didn't mean my post to be as malicious as it seemed. On a site called "College Confidential," I just usually assume that everyone's grammar is going to be correct and that their sentences will be legible.
And yes, in real life, I do have the guts, and I would say something to your face. But maybe in person the humor would have been more obvious. I'm sorry that you got so mad about it; I really thought it was probably a joke post.
And I hope you have a good day. :] And I actually mean that.

Get over the spelling...not that Inveniamviam was serious, but some posters here are seriously self-righteous and elitist because they can type in correct spelling. It's not like it's totally non-understandable (hint: /-/2xim1 1ipdm2 1337). It doesn't correlate to intelligence or anything and whether it is a college site or not is irrelevant, it's understandable so no being pushy about grammar/spelling.

With that aside...you may want to talk to your sponsor/counselor.

to the op, yeah..i want to start a model u.n at my school too!! i think basically that when you sign up for a conference, they give you a country that you "are" and you basically do research on that country!!! i hope this is more helpful then the other posts above..:)

Okay. JenChow1992 i am trying to do the same exact thing as you are. my public school doesn't offer this club either. So the first thing i did was speak to a teacher who might be interested in being the "adult" involved. I spoke to my APUSH teacher and she said the first step would be to make an appointment with the principal. I am going to be seeing him this Wednesday and just talk to him about the Club. I think that should help. With how to begin and what not. I want to do this because I think it will make my college apps. to stand out. And also because i am super into public speaking. Can you tell me what you know about the club?!

Our school has a pretty decent Model UN Club, and my close friends are running it. They meet every week or so and have informal sessions on some current topics, and learn more about the UN and its workings. We organize a trip roughly once a year to somewhere big (went to NY and Berkeley before, going to Beijing this year), and there are frequent local conferences to go to around our area, run mostly by universities.

If you're first starting, its important you teach your club how the UN works and what a conference is like, and carrying out small discussions.

Hey, it’s great to see someone getting a MUN chapter started =) It’s a ton of fun and a great way to get to know world politics.
I’m not familiar with the Houston area, but here are some conferences I found online:

They all look like relatively large conferences; however, it can’t hurt to try. Contact other schools’ MUN chapters and ask what conferences that they attend, or if you don’t have any in your area, email the conference secretaries; they will tell you if the conference is right for you or not.
