So I've heard all around that this is the best book for AP euro, despite its lack of practice tests.

I just got it, and it looks disappointing (based on the looks). Of course I haven't looked at the content... but it's inconveniently small, like a chapter books, has 600 pages, small print, and thin pages. I'm sort of used to getting review books that are easy to maneuver around, have less than 300 pages, and are large.

Did I get the right book? its by "birdsall S. viault."

Will the content make up for its sub-par appearance and feel?

I’ve heard it’s a solid book, but a recent analysis by a member [dark knight] has shown that the Crash Course book is better for AP Euro. Crash Course is designed for the time-crunched student as well, so it may fit your style
Good luck!

I’ve been equally disappointed by the appearance of MEH, but I’ve been reading it for a few weeks and it has some pretty solid content. That said, I will definitely be supplementing it with a real prep book. Can anyone recommend the best book? I can’t tell if dark knight is saying that Crash Course is the BEST or just good… :(

yes its a shame I think crash course would be a better pick. I’m looking at the content and it seems pretty good though (MEH). I guess you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. I’m going to update this later, and tell you guys how MEH is. But in the mean time, please ggive your opinions on MEH.

Of everything i’ve heard, MEH is the best.

MEH has both strengths and weaknesses. Strengths include a solid outline and comprehensive coverage of political events. However, these strengths are balanced by important weaknesses. MEH often provides too much political information while ignoring social history. In addition, MEH stops in 1990 and thus does not discuss the post-cold war era. I do not consider the absence of practice tests a weakness. The practice tests in PR, Barrons, REA and other test prep books are all inferior. For the best practice go to the College Board Store and buy a copy of the 2009 released test. My analysis of all the released tests indicates that Crash Course and Princeton Review offer the best combination. Taken together these two book all but guarantee a 5.

What is social history?

I read through MEH twice (an older version that didn’t even cover the beginning of the course) and read through PR once and got a five. I also read about 2/3rds of our textbook (I think it was McKay) throughout the year.

^ I’m pretty sure social history consists of the different intellectual and cultural movements - Italian/Northern Renaissance, Romanticism, Enlightenment, Scientific Revolution

Cool man, Cool. Thanks!!
