Modern Languages or French major

I'm studying French and Japanese, with a little bit of Chinese. I was originally planning to do a Modern Languages major (French the primary language, Japanese the secondary), but my advisor, a French professor, suggested I switch to a French major and Japanese minor (I hadn't realized how easily I would be able to complete a French major).

Unfortunately, a Japanese minor would be very difficult to get. I would have to study abroad in Japan and take a summer course in order to get the required course. I've been considering study abroad there anyway, but the summer course would be difficult because I need to work over the summer. I'm also going to be studying abroad for two other semesters in Martinique and Senegal. I really, really don't know what kind of job I'd like to get after college.

So, given the choice between a Modern Languages major and a French major, which should I go for? I know it probably doesn't matter that much, but will one sound better, leave a better impression?
