I know this section is tested minimally. But, do we need to know the various formulas or is it mostly memorizing some facts and such?

It’s good to know the relativistic factor ( 1/sqrt(1-c^2/v2 ) ) and how it effects the length , mass , time and energy of a certain system. The addition of relativistic speeds equation( ( u + v / 1 + uv/c^2 ) is another one. Another formula you should know is the de broglie equation ( wavelength = h/p ), the planck formula ( E = hf ) and finally the formula for the kinetic energy of a liberated photoelectron ( KE = hf - workfunction ). Knowing the equations is great , but given that most of the questions given with the subject of modern physics are abstract questions , having a good understanding of the subjects at hand should be your top priority.
