Molecular Engineering Bachelor's?

Hello all! I'm a rising high school senior planning to apply EA to Chicago, and I'm having some trouble trying to find a major that's right for me. At all the other schools I'm applying to, I want to go into engineering, either Materials or Chemical. My long term plan is to work with nanotech and renewable energy, though I wouldn't mind working in energy/science policy as well. I was really interested in the Molecular Engineering program, but obviously right now it's only a graduate program/minor. I heard there were plans to design a bachelor's program in Molecular Engineering for next year, and I would definitely be interested in that. Does anyone have any knowledge of if/when this program would be established? Also, assuming the undergrad program doesn't happen, would it make sense to major in Physics and then apply for the PhD?

gauravk306: I hope several people will weigh in but you could start here:

Best of luck to you.

I talked with one of the MolE program directors back in April, and she said that the primary reason that a minor was offered before a major was limited lab facilities - the bio, chem, and physics teaching labs were all booked to full capacity with students taking bio, chem, and physics courses. Hence, there was no suitable teaching space for engineering labs. Once the new IME building is completed in 2015, that problem should be fixed in time for your matriculation.
