Molloy College Honors Business program--

I have an opportunity to enter the honors business program at Molloy College. My current plan is to attend law school after college; and since law school admission is said to be 95% GPA+LSAT, coming out with a 4.0, or close to it, is my main priority.

While going into the honors program does seem to have its perks, my question is whether entering this program would basically hurt my grades. My concern is that while I would most likely stand out greatly in a regular class, my performance would be much more leveled with the other top students.

In my mind when a teacher is grading subjective work like an essay, the best would receive an A while the rest would trickle down through B-C-D etc compared to the best of the pack. Although my question probably can't be answered with hard data, any relevant opinions are welcomed.

If someone does happen to have statistical data on students in the honors college compared to the regular from any college/university, that would be amazing.

buuuuummmppp

Start in the Honors Program. If you can’t keep up the workload, drop down to the regular classes. Not all professors grade with a curve. It is not unheard of for all the students to get an A in a relatively tough college class.

If you have specific questions about the grading at Molloy, you should contact the head of the Honors Program, and ask.

Thanks for the reply. The reason I’m asking and not just jumping at the opportunity is also because I will have to interview for the program, and I need to decide whether to go into the business or regular honors program.

I’d still be interested to know whether a law school would take priority over a student with a 4.0 from regular classes or a 3.8 from an honors program. Do you think if I email the dean I could get the average GPA for students in either the regular or business honors programs?
