@Sue22 A reason why I am afraid to do ROTC in the US Army. I want to keep my Korean citizenship (for personal reasons. My parents tried to make me renounce it).
If you become estranged from your father, most prestige colleges (including UVA) become unattainable, at least until you are considered independent by them, since they require both parents’ cooperation. Chicago and usually Vanderbilt are the exceptions.
@ucbalumnus ^^^^^ this is why I wanted to go to Vandy. Fin aid is good
With current unemployment rate of 16.7% in Korea, I don’t think going back to Korea permanently is a good idea…
@paul2752 Agreed
P.s. isn’t it 4%? Anyway long term, it’s bad
Wait, you’re considering joining the US military?
@Dankjewel I am no expert in economy, but there are various ways to calculate unemployment rate. The one I wrote is a youth unemployment rate. The number could be wrong, but it is at least over 10%. Just for young people. That is quite bad.
@Dankejewel Weren’t you a junior in Fall 2015 and had an SAT score of 2200? Did you take a GAP year in HS too?
Now you are this…
@Sue22 It was a passing thought for a while to get away from my parents. However, I probably won’t pass the physicals (haha). Horrible fitness and I even literally get beat up by my brother at home (parents sort of encourage my younger brother to do that to “keep me in line.” I can’t fight back b/c they use that as an excuse to punish me)
@labegg Nah. I wrote it as a “fake hypothetical profile.” I did have a 2200 SAT (around that for the new SAT at least) however, but the age info and location are false (I didn’t think I would use CC that much)
The newer one is real. The ref job I got fired from quick b/c I was horrible at it
@paul2752 she was impeached, so she is more like “natural person park”
What do you want to do? Every suggestion is met with a reason you can’t do this or can’t do that, so why don’t you tell us what you want to do and how you will do it and pay for it?
Can’t you wait to see where you get in and go from there? Maybe request a gap year, or that they reconsider your FA because of the divorce?
Someone did post on here a few months ago that you do have to renounce the other citizenship(s) if you get a ROTC scholarship.

@twoinanddone that’s the best outcome. I looked into summer programs, and they are too expensive
Maybe I should have applied for a PG year somewhere. I really regret it
Well dude if you do just half of the stuff you claim to do during your GAP you’ll be solid.
@labegg Intern at government affiliated organization (I’ll look into that! There’s a new rep in town)
Intern at local science laboratory (I just searched the application. They discontinued that internship
)
Intern at video game company (did in HS)
Plus there’s that pesky 4 years of full time military service and another 4 in the reserves.
Where would you have gotten the money for a PG year?
